If Ulta Beauty checkout is failing, first compare your billing address, card expiration date and security code with the information your financial institution has on file. Ulta says Ulta.com does not accept international payment methods or orders placed outside the U.S. If those checks do not resolve the problem, contact Guest Services. The available information does not establish a current system-wide outage or a single cause for every failed checkout.
Start with Ulta’s payment-error checks
For a “Payment or Processing Error During Checkout,” Ulta advises customers to verify these details against their financial institution’s records: Ulta’s payment-error FAQ.

- Check that the billing address matches the one associated with the payment method.
- Confirm the card’s expiration date and security code.
- Make sure the information entered matches what the financial institution has on file.
Ulta also says it does not accept international forms of payment or orders placed outside the U.S. If you are ordering from outside the United States or using an international payment method, the FAQ’s stated policy may explain why checkout cannot proceed.
Check the cart’s delivery methods
A checkout problem may relate to the cart’s delivery setup rather than payment validation. Ulta’s order guidance says a checkout can include up to two delivery methods. Supported combinations include pickup with ship-to-home, or same-day delivery with ship-to-home. Pickup and same-day delivery cannot be combined in one cart.

These restrictions can affect whether an order can be placed, but Ulta does not identify them as causes of card-validation errors.
Payment alternatives are options, not guaranteed fixes
Venmo
Ulta documents Venmo as a checkout option. On mobile, you need a Venmo account and app, and checkout redirects you to Venmo to authorize payment. If Venmo does not appear under Payment, Ulta advises checking that both the Ulta and Venmo apps are up to date. Switching payment methods is not a guaranteed remedy for a checkout problem.

Klarna
Ulta’s Klarna information says to select Klarna at checkout, complete the Klarna flow, then return to Ulta.com to finalize the order. Eligibility terms include U.S. or territorial residency and legal-age requirements. Consider whether this payment option suits your needs; Ulta does not present it as a fix for checkout errors.
Before trying to place the order again
If you may already have submitted the order, check for an order confirmation or look up its status through Ulta’s Guest Services order-tracking page before repeatedly submitting payment. The support material reviewed does not establish how every pending authorization behaves after an unsuccessful checkout, and an authorization alone does not confirm that an order was completed.

Contact Ulta Guest Services safely
If the payment and delivery checks do not help, Ulta lists Guest Services at 866-983-8582, with hours of 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Central Time, seven days a week. Ulta also lists chat, text and email options on its contact page. The contact form accepts an optional order number or Bag ID.
Do not put payment details in the form’s comment box. Ulta’s instruction is: “Please do not include Credit Card, Gift Card or eGift Card Numbers in the Comment Box.”
Is Ulta checkout down for everyone?
The available official guidance explains common checks and checkout rules but does not confirm a current, system-wide outage or identify a universal technical cause. Individual app-store reviews have described payment problems, including a Google Play review dated October 23, 2024, but individual reports do not establish how widespread a problem is now or whether different customers share the same cause.
