Ubisoft’s Vantage Studios began operating on October 1, 2025, bringing teams behind Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six into a new company structure. Tencent invested €1.16 billion and received a 26.32% economic interest when the transaction closed on November 21, 2025; Ubisoft retained exclusive control. The Canadian footprint includes teams in Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke and Saguenay, but the move did not encompass all Ubisoft staff in those cities or all Canadian Ubisoft development.
What is Ubisoft’s Vantage Studios?
Vantage Studios is Ubisoft Nova SAS, a subsidiary organized around three of Ubisoft’s major franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Ubisoft describes it as its first “Creative House,” with teams working on those franchises and their back catalogs, as well as games in development and future games in the franchises. Ubisoft’s March 27, 2025 announcement described the planned entity and covered teams; the company said Vantage became operational on October 1, 2025.
The word “launch” can refer to two separate milestones. Vantage began operating in October, while Ubisoft announced that Tencent’s investment had closed on November 21, 2025. The operational start was not the transaction closing.
Which teams and locations are included?
Ubisoft’s announcement identifies teams developing the covered franchises in six locations:

The announcement identifies locations for teams working on the three franchises; it does not provide a complete studio-by-studio roster, employee count or allocation of every staff member at each location. It is therefore inaccurate to read the list as meaning that every Ubisoft employee or every team in those cities moved into Vantage.
Is Ubisoft Toronto part of Vantage?
Contemporaneous reporting by MobileSyrup on October 1, 2025 said Ubisoft Toronto was outside Vantage, noting the studio’s work on Star Wars Outlaws and the Splinter Cell remake. The report also cautioned that Vantage did not include all staff at each named studio. This is a specific report about Toronto, not a complete or current map of Ubisoft staffing across Canada.

How much did Tencent invest, and who controls Vantage?
Ubisoft announced a €1.16 billion Tencent investment on March 27, 2025, initially estimating Tencent’s economic interest at approximately 25%. In its November 21 closing announcement, Ubisoft reported Tencent’s final economic interest as 26.32% and gave Vantage a pre-money enterprise value of €3.8 billion. The March estimate and November closing figure describe different stages of the transaction.
Tencent holds a minority economic interest, but Ubisoft retained exclusive control and consolidates Vantage. In the closing announcement, Ubisoft stated: “Following the completion of the Investment, Tencent holds a 26.32% economic interest in Vantage Studios, which remains exclusively controlled and consolidated by Ubisoft.” The initial announcement also described a worldwide, exclusive, irrevocable and perpetual license for the three franchises in exchange for royalties. Ubisoft summarized additional minority-protection, consent, lock-up and share-transfer terms, but those summaries are not a full account of the shareholders’ agreement.

How does Vantage fit into Ubisoft’s wider structure?
Vantage is one part of Ubisoft’s broader Creative Houses model, not another name for the whole structure. Ubisoft’s January 2026 announcement described five Creative Houses supported by a Creative Network, shared Core Services and a reshaped headquarters organization, with the new organization scheduled to begin operating in early April 2026. A March 2026 leadership update described the houses as grouping teams around brands with similar genres and player experiences. That company-wide plan extends beyond Vantage’s three franchises.
