The payment is conditional: drivers must first receive eligibility confirmation, enroll, meet the vehicle and trip rules, and qualify while funds remain available. Check the offer in your driver account before buying or leasing an EV.
Who can qualify for Uber’s $4,000 EV incentive?
Under Uber’s current U.S. Go Electric terms, the offer is for drivers who are Platinum or Diamond in Uber Pro and receive confirmation of eligibility. Drivers must switch to or add a qualifying EV within 90 days after that confirmation.
Uber says the vehicle must be personally owned or leased and added to the driver profile for the first time after confirmation. A rental does not qualify. The listed eligible types are battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs); hybrids and plug-in hybrids are excluded. A driver who already has, or has ever had, an EV on their driver profile is ineligible under the stated terms.
Which rides count toward the 100-trip requirement?
Drivers must complete 100 eligible Uber rides by December 31, 2026. Trips begin counting after confirmed enrollment and the first qualifying EV trip. Uber Eats, Uber Connect, other delivery trips, and canceled rides do not count. Check the offer displayed in your account for the exact eligible-trip rules that apply to you.

- Flex Level 1 EV Charger - The EVDANCE Level 1 electric car charger is compatible with J1772 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles (North American Standard). *Tesla requires a SAE J1772 adapter.
- Convenient to Use - This charger has both NEMA 6-20 plug for 16A 240V charging (3.68kW, 10-12 mi/h) and a NEMA 6-20 to 5-15 plug adapter for 12A 120V charging (1.44kW, 2-5 mi/h). The included bag makes it easier to carry on the go. It also has a 25ft cable length, you can use it flexibly from anywhere in the garage or driveway.
- Check Your Outlet Type -This charger works with standard 120V NEMA 5-15/5-20 outlets (2-5 mph charging speed) and 240V NEMA 6-20 outlets (10-12 mph) . It's not compatible with NEMA 6-15/10-30/14-30/14-50/6-50 outlets – you'll need a NEMA 14-50/14-30/10-30/6-50 to 6-20 adapter (sold separately) to connect.

How to check the offer before committing to a vehicle
- Open your Uber driver account and review its Go Electric offer. Eligibility and additional criteria may vary by market.
- Get Uber’s eligibility confirmation before buying or leasing. The stated 90-day vehicle window begins after confirmation, and the EV must be added to your profile for the first time after confirmation.
- Verify the vehicle and ownership arrangement. Confirm the vehicle is an eligible BEV or FCEV and that it will be personally owned or leased, not rented.
- Check any extra market-specific conditions. For example, a surfaced Denver offer listing requires at least 750 ride trips in the 90 days before application; that threshold should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.
- Track eligible rides through the deadline. Only qualifying rides after enrollment and the first qualifying EV trip count toward the 100-trip requirement.
When is the incentive paid, and what can prevent payment?
Uber says payments are typically processed within 15 days after a driver completes the requirements, but they may take longer. The $4,000 is not guaranteed simply because a driver purchases an EV or completes rides: enrollment, qualifying ownership and vehicle status, eligible trips, and remaining program funds all matter.
Uber’s terms state: “Once funds are exhausted, no additional incentives will be paid, even if a driver meets the program criteria.” Uber also reserves the right to change trip requirements, payouts, or other program details and to disqualify drivers or vehicles that do not qualify. The offer is limited-time and subject to change, so rely on the current terms and offer shown in your account rather than older launch coverage.

Where the $4,000 offer applies
The offer discussed here is the U.S. program. Uber’s 2026 Governance Strategy and Engagement Report says Go Electric grants launched in select U.S. markets in 2025 and expanded nationwide throughout the U.S. in 2026. Uber also reported a separate CAD$5,000 grant in select Canadian cities in 2025; that is not the U.S. $4,000 offer. See Uber’s 2026 Governance Strategy and Engagement Report for its account of the program’s timeline.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does switching to an EV make financial sense?
The incentive alone cannot show whether switching will save an individual driver money. Compare the cost of buying versus leasing an eligible vehicle, and estimate charging costs and access for your routes and driving schedule. Uber notes in its program terms that “The cost of gas and charging varies by location, vehicle type, and personal usage, and is subject to price fluctuations.” Its materials do not provide enough individualized information to calculate a driver’s net savings or recommend a particular model.

- WORKS WITH EVERY NON-TESLA EV: Standard J1772 connector plugs straight into Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rivian, Lucid and every other EV or plug-in hybrid sold with a J1772 port - no adapter needed. Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car.
- PLUG IN, NO HARDWIRING: Level 2 charger delivers up to 40A to fully charge most EVs overnight. Plugs into a 240V, 4-prong NEMA 14-50 outlet (the RV/range type - NOT a dryer outlet) on a dedicated 50A circuit. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that you have the right outlet.
- CONTROL & SAVE FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start/stop charging, set speed (6-40A), get reminders, and track energy use and cost. Schedule off-peak overnight charging to cut your electric bill. Requires 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
Uber reports that nearly 50,000 drivers have rented a Tesla through its program, completing more than 24 million fully electric trips and over 260 million electric miles. These are company-reported cumulative program figures, not independent estimates of environmental impact or driver savings. Its 2026 report also says Uber aimed to unlock 1,000 or more net-new chargers in urban charging deserts through utilization guarantees to charging operators; that is a stated aim, not a count of chargers already installed. The same report says Uber invested $621 million globally in driver financial incentive programs as of the end of 2025, a broader figure than the specific Go Electric grant.
