Tyson Foods said on September 2, 2025, that chief supply chain officer Brady Stewart was leaving the company effective immediately after it determined that certain actions by him violated its Code of Conduct. Tyson did not describe the actions or identify the specific rule involved. The company appointed Devin Cole as chief operating officer and reassigned several functions to report directly to CEO Donnie King.

Why did Brady Stewart leave Tyson Foods?

Tyson’s September 2 announcement said the company had determined that “certain actions taken by Brady violated the Tyson Foods Code of Conduct” and that Stewart would leave effective immediately. The company did not state what the actions were, when they occurred, or which conduct rule was involved. Reuters reported on September 3 that Tyson had not responded to a request for more information and that Stewart could not immediately be reached for comment.

Those public statements establish Tyson’s stated reason for the departure, but do not disclose the underlying conduct. No particular allegation can be confirmed from the company’s announcement or the Reuters reports.

Who replaced Tyson’s supply-chain chief?

Tyson appointed Devin Cole chief operating officer on September 2. The company said Cole had most recently served as group president of Poultry and International and had more than 30 years of industry experience. Tyson President and CEO Donnie King said, “I am confident that under Devin’s leadership our business will continue to thrive.”

How Tyson divided the responsibilities

Cole’s COO remit covers five business segments. Tyson separately said the following functions would report directly to King after Stewart’s departure:

What Tyson said about succession planning

Tyson framed Cole’s appointment as a reflection of its commitment to succession planning. At a Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference, Cole said, “We have a very robust succession mechanism in place at our company,” Reuters reported on September 4. Reuters also reported that Cole did not expect major changes in his expanded role. These comments describe the company’s planning and Cole’s expectations; they do not establish what results followed.
