Two tickets—one sold in Missouri and one in Texas—matched all six numbers in the September 6, 2025, Powerball drawing. The reported $1.787 billion jackpot was the annuity value to be split between the two winning tickets, not an amount paid to each ticket holder. The reported cash option was about $410.3 million per ticket, before taxes.
September 6, 2025, Powerball winning numbers
The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and Powerball 17. The two jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Missouri and Texas, according to local coverage of the drawing.
What the jackpot and payout figures mean
The advertised jackpot was reported as $1.787 billion, rounded to about $1.8 billion in headlines. That figure represented the annuity option. A secondary report put the cash option at about $410.3 million per winning ticket, or about $893.5 million per ticket in annuity payments, both before taxes. These are reported amounts for this drawing, not after-tax proceeds; the source described 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year. The report’s payout figures and description do not establish which option either winner chose.
| Reported option | Amount per winning ticket | Payment structure |
|---|---|---|
| Annuity | About $893.5 million before taxes | 29 annual payments, increasing by 5% each year, according to the report |
| Cash | About $410.3 million before taxes | Cash option; timing details not stated in the report |
Because two tickets won, each ticket’s reported option amount was roughly half the jackpot’s corresponding total. Neither amount should be read as a confirmed net payout after taxes.

What is known about the winners
The available coverage identifies the states where the winning tickets were sold, but does not establish either ticket holder’s identity or whether either winner has claimed the prize. It also does not verify the Texas ticket’s specific sales location. The drawing’s reported figures and details should therefore be kept separate from any claim about the winners’ eventual proceeds.

The 2025 secondary report described the $1.787 billion prize as the second-largest U.S. lottery prize at that time, behind the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2022. That is a ranking reported in 2025, not a current ranking.
