Twelve announced a $645 million financing package in September 2024 to support its carbon-transformation business and build AirPlant One, a sustainable aviation fuel facility in Moses Lake, Washington. The original announcement projected production in 2025; Twelve’s later updates say the plant opened on June 10, 2026, and was operating by September 2026.
What the $645 million financing included
Twelve’s September 19, 2024 announcement described three parts to the financing package:

The figures add up to the announced $645 million total. Twelve said the funding would support the company’s carbon transformation business as well as construction of its first sustainable aviation fuel plant, AirPlant One. The announcement was a financing commitment, not a statement that the facility had already started producing fuel. Twelve’s 2024 announcement and TPG’s announcement describe the package.
Where AirPlant One is and its current status
AirPlant One is in Moses Lake, Washington. Twelve said the facility opened on June 10, 2026, and reported in September 2026 that it was operating and producing E-Jet aviation fuel and E-Naphtha. These are company-reported operating claims; the cited updates do not independently verify production volumes.

The 2024 announcement had projected a 2025 production start. That was an expectation stated at the time, not the facility’s current status. The newer company updates are the relevant ones for the opening and operation timeline: the June 2026 opening announcement and the September 2026 financing update.
How Twelve says the plant makes fuel
Twelve describes its process as power-to-liquid: using carbon dioxide (CO2), water and renewable electricity to make E-Jet aviation fuel. The company says AirPlant One also produces E-Naphtha and that the plant uses Columbia River hydropower. These descriptions of the process, energy source and products come from Twelve.

In its 2024 announcement, Twelve said E-Jet could have lifecycle emissions up to 90% lower than conventional fossil jet fuel. “Up to” is important: this is the company’s claim about potential lifecycle emissions, not an independently measured result for the plant’s actual fuel production.
What output figures do—and do not—tell us
A 2024 Washington State Legislature report cited about 50,000 gallons of E-Jet fuel per year as AirPlant One’s expected eventual output. That is a historical expectation, not a verified current production rate. Twelve’s September 2026 update says the facility was producing fuel but does not provide a production volume. The two statements therefore answer different questions: one gives a past expected annual output; the other reports operation without quantifying it. The state report supplies the earlier estimate.

What the financing means for customers and businesses
Twelve identified Alaska Airlines and International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways, as prospective E-Jet customers in its 2024 announcement. Its 2024 year-in-review also described corporate purchases of E-Jet sustainable aviation fuel attributes, including a certificate agreement with Boston Consulting Group. Those references indicate business-to-business procurement and certificate activity, not a public consumer sales channel.
For a business evaluating sustainable aviation fuel procurement, a certificate or attribute purchase should not be confused with buying a passenger-sized quantity of fuel. Availability, delivery structure, accounting treatment and contract terms need to be confirmed directly with the provider. Twelve’s 2024 year-in-review describes the company’s reported certificate activity; the cited materials do not establish a consumer purchasing option or public referral program.

What Washington’s environmental review does—and does not—show
Washington’s Department of Ecology says its alternative-jet-fuel programmatic environmental impact statement is not an assessment of any specific project. It is intended to provide groundwork for future project-level environmental reviews, with June 30, 2027 listed as the planned date for completing the final programmatic statement. That statewide process does not establish a project-specific permit or environmental finding for AirPlant One. Ecology’s program page explains the scope and schedule.
