Turning Point USA (TPUSA) raised $389 million from its founding in 2012 through mid-2023, according to its tax returns analyzed by Forbes. The largest direct donor identified in IRS records was the Wayne Duddlesten Foundation, a Houston-based foundation that gave TPUSA $13.1 million in aggregate. Those figures do not establish a lifetime total through 2026 or identify every person whose money reached the organization.
What the $389 million figure covers
Forbes reporter Zach Everson reported on September 22, 2025, that tax returns showed TPUSA raised $389 million from its 2012 founding through mid-2023. The figure is cumulative fundraising over that period, not an annual amount or a verified total through 2026. Forbes says TPUSA’s tax year ends June 30. Forbes’ investigation is the source for the reported totals.
The organization’s reported scale grew substantially over time: Forbes says TPUSA raised $79,000 in its first year and that annual contributions reached $80 million about a decade later. These are different measures from the $389 million cumulative figure.
Which Texas foundation gave TPUSA $13.1 million?
The Wayne Duddlesten Foundation was the largest direct donor appearing in the IRS records Forbes analyzed, with $13.1 million in aggregate gifts to TPUSA. Forbes describes it as established in 1981 by the late Houston real estate developer Wayne Duddlesten. The reported $13.1 million is not characterized as a single-year or one-time payment.

#1 Best Overall
“Largest direct donor identified in IRS records” is the careful way to describe the finding. It does not mean the foundation is necessarily the largest original source of money: tax filings may show an intermediary fund rather than the individual donor behind a contribution.
Who else appears among TPUSA’s disclosed institutional backers?
Forbes also reported aggregate support attributed to foundations associated with several donors. The amounts below are reported totals, not evidence that the named individuals personally wrote checks for those sums.

| Foundation or associated donor | Reported amount |
|---|---|
| Wayne Duddlesten Foundation | $13.1 million |
| Jack Roth | $8.7 million |
| Bernie Marcus | $7.1 million |
| Charles B. and Ann Johnson | $4.6 million |
| William Dunn | $4.5 million |
| Dean Buntrock | $4.1 million |
Forbes also names foundations associated with Isaac Perlmutter, Darwin Deason, Richard Uihlein, John Catsimatidis, A. Jerrold Perenchio, and Jimmy John Liautaud as supporters, without giving amounts in its report. This is not an exhaustive list of everyone who supported TPUSA.
Why the filings do not reveal every original donor
Forbes says TPUSA’s tax returns do not identify individual donors. When a contribution is made through a donor-advised fund, the filing may name the fund as the legal contributor without showing the person who recommended the grant. Forbes identifies DonorsTrust, Bradley Impact Fund, and Fidelity Charitable as examples of funds through which gifts may be routed. The report says this arrangement is legal and common among nonprofits, but it limits public visibility into original sources.

Rank #3
Forbes reported that the Bradley Impact Fund had funneled $23.6 million to TPUSA since 2014. That illustrates why a filing-based ranking is a ranking of disclosed direct contributors, not a complete accounting of the individuals whose money may have reached the organization.
Which organizations are included—and which are separate?
The $389 million analysis is for Turning Point USA. Forbes excluded Turning Point Endowment, Turning Point Action, and America’s Turning Point, Inc. from its analysis. Their finances should not be added to TPUSA’s total without separate records covering comparable periods. Turning Point Action is a separate social-welfare entity; its finances and political activity are not TPUSA’s charitable contributions.
Rank #4
Is $389 million TPUSA’s current total?
No later cumulative total is established by the cited reporting. Forbes said that, if TPUSA maintained its usual filing schedule, a return reflecting contributions after Charlie Kirk’s death would be filed in May 2027 and become public later. That was a projection in the September 2025 report, not confirmation of a future filing date or a newer fundraising total.
For context on how the organization describes itself, TPUSA’s About page says its mission is to identify, educate, train, and organize Americans to promote fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government. That is the organization’s own description, not independent evidence about its fundraising.
