The Central Perk couch sold for $29,250 at Julien’s Auctions’ September 23, 2024, Friends 30th-anniversary sale. The lot was a full-size studio-made reproduction modeled from Warner Bros.’ original—not the couch used on the set. Julien’s had estimated it at $2,000 to $3,000.
What the $29,250 sale included
Julien’s Auctions and Warner Bros. Television organized “The One With The 30-Year Anniversary Auction” on September 23, 2024. The listing described the couch as a full-size studio-made reproduction “modelled from the original by Warner Bros.” Its details included orange velvet cushions and back pillows, carved brown resin paneling finished to look like wood, and copper-color tassels on the front skirt. The PEOPLE report, republished by AOL, gives the completed sale price as $29,250 and compares it with the $2,000 low end of that estimate—nearly 15 times as much. That is a reported 2024 auction result, not a current resale price or asking price. PEOPLE’s auction results report republished by AOL
Why the reproduction distinction matters
The headline’s “Central Perk couch” can sound like the actual production couch, but Julien’s lot description identifies this one as a studio-made reproduction modeled from the Warner Bros. original. The auction also included reproductions of other show items. Julien’s said every lot came with an original Certificate of Authenticity issued by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Archives & Preservation Services. That certificate statement does not change the couch’s described status as a reproduction.

Julien’s described the sale’s mix as costumes, apartment decor, studio-made reproductions of the Central Perk couch and sign, and items used by guest stars. The results illustrate how different items from one television series can attract very different bids; they do not establish what a similar item would sell for in a future auction.

What the auction house said
Julien’s Auctions CEO David Goodman said in a press release: “Thirty years since its debut in 1994, people from all over the world are still falling in love with Friends as evidenced by the success of today’s 30th anniversary auction.”
