What is the Fallen First Responder Home Program?

In a June 30, 2022 release, Tunnel to Towers described the program as paying mortgages for families of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty who leave young children. That release describes the program at that time; it should not be taken as a statement of current eligibility rules or application procedures. The Weatherford profile attributes his family’s payoff to the program but does not give additional eligibility or funding details.

How is this different from the other Arkansas mortgage story?

Patrick Weatherford’s case is separate from the mortgage assistance reported for the family of Brent Scrimshire, a Hot Springs police officer killed in 2020. Boston.com reported that Rachel Scrimshire received mortgage assistance and that Cindy Chesna donated $19,000 to Tunnel to Towers to help pay that mortgage. That donation figure belongs to the Scrimshire story, not the Weatherford family’s payoff.
