What the Foundation says its board is meant to advance

The Tull Charitable Foundation says it has been part of Atlanta’s story for nearly eight decades. Its stated approach is to partner with nonprofits to strengthen organizational capacity, resilience and operating strength rather than treating grants as isolated transactions.

Statements from trustees describe a focus on equity, access, economic mobility, nonprofit sustainability and responsible stewardship of philanthropic resources.

Misty Fernandez: equity through access

“I believe leadership is about advancing equity by creating access and opportunity for others. Serving on the Tull Foundation Board allows me to help turn that belief into action through meaningful investments in people, families and communities.”

Beth Lowry: building pathways and economic mobility

“I’ve spent my career building projects and teams, but the most meaningful work is helping build pathways for others. It is an honor to support the Tull Foundation’s mission of expanding opportunity and advancing economic mobility.”

The Foundation attributes that statement to Beth Lowry.

Tim P. Tassopoulos: stewardship and community impact

“I’m honored to serve as a Trustee of the Tull Foundation because of its ongoing legacy of philanthropic stewardship and community impact.”

That statement is from Tim P. Tassopoulos.

What is changing in the Foundation’s grantmaking?

The clearest current example of the Foundation’s strategy is its 2026 Rebuild Grant. The program is designed for nonprofits that need to rethink how they operate after federal funding or policy changes in 2025. It is intended to help organizations rebuild business models and develop revenue strategies that can support long-term sustainability.

2026 Rebuild Grant detail What the Foundation states
Potential award Up to $100,000 per nonprofit
Targeted number of recipients Approximately 20 nonprofits
Primary situation addressed Direct effects from 2025 federal funding or policy changes
Purpose Business-model rebuilding and revenue-strategy development for longer-term sustainability

This is different from a general annual operating grant. The program is aimed at organizations prepared to make meaningful changes to their structure, revenue mix or operating model.

Who is eligible for the 2026 Rebuild Grant?

Applicants must meet the Foundation’s stated requirements:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) organization.
  • Serve Metro Atlanta.
  • Have annual operating expenses of at least $1 million, or participate in a collaborative application whose combined budget is at least $1 million.
  • Have experienced a decline or shift in government or philanthropic funding.
  • Be ready for meaningful organizational redesign.

Meeting the financial and geographic thresholds does not by itself establish that an organization will receive funding. The program is specifically oriented toward redesign and sustainability, so applicants need a credible case for how changed funding conditions affect their business model and what revenue strategy they intend to build.

What the board announcement does—and does not—establish

The current board page is authoritative for the Foundation’s present roster. It does not, on its own, establish which individuals were newly appointed, whether the additions were categorized as business or nonprofit leaders, or the date of the announcement. Readers should therefore distinguish between the current list of trustees and a historical account of board changes.

What is clear is the connection between the board’s stated values and the Foundation’s current funding direction: equity and access are paired with economic mobility, while stewardship is paired with stronger, more resilient nonprofit operations. The Rebuild Grant puts those priorities into a specific 2026 funding opportunity for qualifying Metro Atlanta organizations.
