Trent’s FY26 revenue grew, but fashion like-for-like growth was only in the low single digits. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2026 opening figures show strong activity across its marketplace; they do not show that the event lifted sales at Trent’s Westside or Zudio stores. The two sets of figures measure different businesses, periods and things.
What Trent reported for FY26
Trent Limited reported standalone revenue from operations of ₹19,701 crore for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, an 18% year-over-year increase. Merchandise revenue, excluding other operating income, grew 19%, according to the company’s FY26 results release. These are company-wide annual figures, not a measure of festive-period sales alone.
At 31 March 2026, Trent reported 300 Westside stores, 963 Zudio stores—including six in the UAE—and 23 stores across other lifestyle concepts. Its fashion brands occupied more than 17.7 million square feet. The scale of this network is relevant when interpreting overall revenue growth: the company operates a large and expanding store base, so growth in total revenue does not by itself tell investors how much existing stores sold.
Why total growth and like-for-like growth differ
Trent’s FY26 investor presentation described fashion like-for-like growth as being in the low single digits for both FY26 and Q4 FY26. It also characterized consumer spending as cautious amid macroeconomic uncertainty. The presentation is available from the company as its FY26 investor presentation.

Revenue from operations reflects the whole business, including the contribution of stores opened over time and other operating income. Merchandise revenue excludes other operating income, but it is still a total-business measure. Like-for-like growth is a different lens: it focuses on sales growth from a comparable base of existing stores. Trent’s reported figures therefore indicate that total revenue expanded much faster than fashion like-for-like growth; the sources do not provide a precise breakdown of how much of the gap came from new stores, newer markets, product mix or other factors.
Store expansion is not the same as demand at established stores
Trent said newer markets mature over time and are not entirely comparable with its existing portfolio. It also said annual store additions are a more representative measure than quarterly openings, which can be uneven. That context argues against reading a single quarter’s opening count as a direct measure of demand or store productivity. For investors, total growth and comparable-store performance answer related but distinct questions: how quickly the business is growing overall, and how sales are progressing at comparable locations.

What Flipkart reported about Big Billion Days 2026
Flipkart announced that Big Billion Days 2026 would begin on 9 October, with early access on 8 October for eligible members, according to its event announcement. In a separate opening-period update, Flipkart reported 6.3 million concurrent users in a minute during the first hour, more than six times the number of shoppers in a regular hour, and 34% growth in new customers. Those are Flipkart-wide, company-reported platform indicators—not Trent sales data. The figures and their scope are described in Flipkart’s opening update.
Flipkart also said approximately 60% of opening-hour demand came from non-metro customers and nearly one in two opening-hour visits came from Tier 3 towns and beyond. It reported first-hour year-over-year growth of 30% for large appliances, 73% for tablets and 42% for beauty. These figures describe activity or category performance across Flipkart’s marketplace. They neither identify Westside or Zudio transactions nor establish that demand flowed to Trent.

Does Big Billion Days show that Trent’s festive sales grew?
No. The cited Flipkart figures describe an early period of activity across its marketplace, while Trent’s revenue and like-for-like disclosures cover FY26 and Q4 FY26. The available company statements do not connect Flipkart’s event traffic, new customers or category growth to Trent’s sales. They cannot establish that Big Billion Days caused a change in Trent’s performance—or quantify Trent’s festive-period sales.
Trent Chairman Noel N Tata described the FY26 performance as “encouraging” while saying the business navigated macroeconomic and geopolitical developments with resilience. That is the chairman’s assessment in the company’s FY26 results release, not an independent evaluation of the results. The release also says consumer sentiment could recover further if the geopolitical environment settles; that outlook is conditional.
