How to compare the real cost of a transfer
Compare a live quote for the same transaction on each service. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) frames the amount paid for an international money transfer as the recipient amount plus the foreign-exchange margin and fees. Compare recipient access and delivery speed
The cheapest quoted option may not work if the recipient cannot access the chosen payout method. Bank deposits, mobile wallets, and cash pickup are different services: check what is actually offered on your route and what the recipient can use. Arrival estimates are also not guarantees, and the time can depend on the corridor, delivery choice, and funding method.

Why shopping around can matter—and what the figures do not prove
In a February 2024 Australian sample, the ACCC estimated consumers and small businesses transferring the US-dollar equivalent of A$10,000 could have saved more than A$400 by choosing the cheapest sampled provider instead of the most expensive sampled bank.
