Top 10 Motorcycles Under $6,000: U.S. MSRP Picks for 2026

Ten new U.S.-listed motorcycles meet a $6,000 base-MSRP cutoff, but destination and local fees mean the sticker price may not fit a $6,000 total budget.

These 10 new motorcycles are listed below $6,000 in U.S. base MSRP, across sport, standard, dual-sport, and cruiser categories. That is a sticker-price cutoff, not a promise that a bike will cost less than $6,000 to buy: freight or destination, dealer fees, taxes, title, and registration can push the out-the-door total higher.

The picks below are organized by riding style, not ranked as a universal best-to-worst list. If $6,000 is your firm total cash limit, get a written, itemized quote before choosing; some options that meet the base-MSRP cutoff do not meet that all-in budget.

What “under $6,000” means here

Prices are U.S. manufacturer base MSRPs. Kawasaki says its base MSRP excludes destination, options, taxes, title and license, and dealer fees and charges. Honda’s listed destination charge is $600 for both the CB300R and CB500 Hornet: that makes the CB300R $5,099 before dealer fees and taxes, while the CB500 Hornet reaches $6,499 before those additional costs. A local quote may differ based on inventory, dealer charges, taxes, registration, and equipment.

For a fixed $6,000 cash budget, ask dealers for written, itemized out-the-door quotes on the same model year, trim, and equipment. Do not compare one dealer’s base MSRP with another’s total purchase quote.

Top 10 motorcycles under $6,000 by riding style

Each model below has a current manufacturer-listed U.S. base MSRP below $6,000. The prices are not equivalent all-in offers, and model year or trim can affect both price and availability.

Sport and fully faired street bikes

Motorcycle Manufacturer-listed U.S. base MSRP What to consider
Kawasaki Ninja 500 2026: $5,399 without ABS; $5,799 with ABS The ABS and non-ABS versions have different prices. Kawasaki’s base price excludes destination, options, taxes, title, license, and dealer fees and charges.
Kawasaki Ninja 300 ABS 2026: $4,999 A lower-priced faired option; confirm model-year availability and local dealer stock.
Yamaha YZF-R3 $5,499 starting MSRP A sportbike-style street option. Confirm the current model year and destination or freight charge with a dealer.

Naked and standard street bikes

Motorcycle Manufacturer-listed U.S. base MSRP What to consider
Kawasaki Z500 ABS 2026: $5,699 A naked standard option with ABS; Kawasaki’s published base price is not an out-the-door total.
Yamaha MT-03 $4,999 starting MSRP An upright naked street bike. Use Yamaha’s current listing rather than an older secondary-source price.
Honda CB300R $4,499 base MSRP; $5,099 including Honda’s listed $600 destination charge The destination-inclusive figure remains before dealer fees and taxes.
Honda CB500 Hornet $5,899 base MSRP; $6,499 including Honda’s listed $600 destination charge It meets this article’s base-MSRP rule but exceeds $6,000 after destination, before other costs; it is not a fit for a strict $6,000 all-in budget.

Dual-sport and dual-purpose bikes

Motorcycle Manufacturer-listed U.S. base MSRP What to consider
Yamaha XT250 $5,499 starting MSRP Consider how much of your riding will be on-road versus off-road, and check local requirements for road use.
Yamaha TW200 $4,999 starting MSRP A dual-purpose choice described by a secondary guide as better suited to low-speed riding than high-performance highway use.

Cruiser

Motorcycle Manufacturer-listed U.S. base MSRP What to consider
Yamaha V Star 250 $4,799 starting MSRP A small-displacement cruiser; verify model year and local availability with Yamaha or a dealer.

How to choose among them

Start with the kind of riding you actually plan to do, then compare fit, equipment, and total cost. A lower base price does not automatically make a motorcycle the better value for your use.

KEMIMOTO Tactical Gloves for Men, Touchscreen Motorcycle Gloves with Hard Shell & Palm Padding for Sports Motorcycle Cycling Tactical Airsoft Paintball Hunting Hiking Camping Climbing (Black,Medium)
  • IMPACT RESISTANCE PROTECTIVE: The riding gloves are designed with microfiber material reinforcement. With the excellent cushioning effect, the skateboard gloves can effectively resist the impact of sharp objects, and protect your hands from scratches and abrasions during tactical or motorcycle cycling
  • THREE-FINGER TOUCHSCREEN: The fingertips of the thumb, index finger, and middle finger are made of touchscreen material, so you can use touchscreen devices without taking off your safety work gloves for men, which is very easy and convenient
  • TOUGH & ANTI-SLIP: The dirt bike gloves are built with double-stitch seams for durability and longevity under any condition. The palm padding of the gloves is made of reinforced double-layer synthetic leather with anti-slip mesh, which can enhance grasp and palm protection
  • BREATHABLE & DRY DESIGN: The utility gloves have 5 inclined rubber ventilation holes at the finger joints that can quickly dissipate heat, keep your hands cool all the time, and are widely suitable as motocross gloves, paintball gloves, mountain bike gloves, hunting gloves, driving gloves, hiking gloves, security gloves, and atv gloves
  • SIZE CHART: Choose the working gloves that fit your palm according to the size chart. These gloves are designed for comfort and dexterity during yard work, gardening, or outdoor tasks.
  • Match the category to your routes. Sport and naked/standard models are street-oriented choices; the XT250 and TW200 are dual-purpose options; the V Star 250 is a cruiser. Consider your road and off-road needs before narrowing the list.
  • Check fit and low-speed control. Compare seat height and weight for your experience and comfort, and sit on the motorcycle if possible. Those specifications are model-specific; the prices here do not establish them.
  • Compare power with experience and use. Engine and power figures can help distinguish models, but figures in secondary buying guides may be model-year-sensitive. Verify technical specifications on the current manufacturer model page.
  • Decide whether ABS matters to you. The Ninja 500 has separate non-ABS and ABS MSRPs. Compare the exact trim and equipment in the quote rather than assuming prices apply across a model family.
  • Get the full price in writing. Ask for an itemized out-the-door quote that identifies destination or freight, dealer charges, taxes, title, registration, and accessories. Compare equivalent trims and equipment.
  • Confirm availability. A manufacturer listing establishes a listed price, not dealer inventory. Check the exact year and trim with nearby dealers before making plans around the advertised MSRP.

When a $6,000 sticker-price limit is not a $6,000 budget

For the Kawasaki models, the published base MSRP excludes destination, options, taxes, title, license, and dealer fees and charges. Honda’s disclosed $600 destination charge shows how quickly a base price can change: the CB300R becomes $5,099 before dealer fees and taxes, and the CB500 Hornet becomes $6,499. Actual local taxes, registration charges, dealer pricing, and inventory were not established in the manufacturer listings, so no model here can be promised below $6,000 out the door.

If your total spending cap is firm, tell the dealer that it is an out-the-door maximum and request the itemized total before you visit or leave a deposit. You may need to consider a model with more room between its base MSRP and your ceiling, but only a local quote can show whether it fits.
