The clearest official example is Clive Christian No1 Passant Guardant: the brand calls it the world’s most expensive perfume, but lists its price as “Price on request.” That is a brand claim, not an independently verified market ranking.
This guide explains what can be established, why popular top-10 lists can mislead, and what to check before comparing prices. It does not present ten products as a verified ranking when current, women-only prices cannot be confirmed on a consistent basis.
What is the most expensive perfume for women?
There is no single answer without defining the price basis. A perfume may be called the most expensive because of its current retail bottle price, its price per milliliter, a limited-edition release price, or a rare bottle’s collector value. These are different comparisons, and a price from one category cannot establish a ranking in another.
Clive Christian’s official article says, “Clive Christian’s No1 Passant Guardant is officially recognised as the world’s most expensive perfume.” The statement is the brand’s own promotional claim; the same page lists the price as “Price on request,” rather than a public figure that can be compared with current retail listings. That supports identifying the fragrance as a product the brand describes this way. It does not establish an independently verified current market leader, a comparable price, or a women-only top-10 position.
What official product information can be confirmed?
Clive Christian No1 Passant Guardant
Clive Christian’s Luxury Perfumes For Her collection is an official place to check the brand’s women-positioned products. Its article about Passant Guardant supplies the brand’s superlative and says the price is available on request. It does not provide a public current price suitable for a like-for-like ranking.

These sources establish that the fragrance is sold in multiple formats; they do not establish its place in a women-only ranking or make the different formats directly comparable without prices and a consistent basis.
Why popular “most expensive” lists are hard to trust
Secondary roundups often combine women’s, men’s and unisex fragrances, and may quote estimates for historical, rare or limited-edition bottles alongside ordinary retail products. A 2026 roundup, for example, names Shumukh, DKNY Golden Delicious, Clive Christian No.1 Imperial Majesty, Baccarat Les Larmes Sacrées de Thèbes, Roja Haute Luxe and Chanel Grand Extrait. A high historic or collector price is not the same as a current price from the brand or an authorized retailer. Nor does an expensive large bottle necessarily have the highest price per milliliter. Without a defined comparison unit and comparable listings, assigning exact ranks implies more certainty than the evidence supports.
How to compare perfume prices fairly
Before treating a fragrance as one of the most expensive, record the details that determine what its price means:

- It’s a Long Lasting fragrance
- Colour: yellow
- Exact product and edition: record the full name, concentration and any limited-edition or collector designation.
- Volume: note the bottle size; if comparing value by volume, calculate price per milliliter from the same currency and market.
- Price basis: separate current retail from launch prices, resale listings, auction results and prices available only on request.
- Seller and region: identify the market, currency and seller, and check whether the listing is from the brand or an authorized retailer.
- Date: record when the price and stock status were checked, since retail availability and prices can change.
- Gender positioning: confirm whether the brand markets the fragrance for women, men or as unisex rather than treating every luxury fragrance as women’s perfume.
A defensible top 10 would need ten products with these details verified on a consistent basis. The official examples above do not supply that complete set of comparable current listings.

For Clive Christian No1 Passant Guardant, the official article gives no public price; it says “Price on request.” Other reported figures for expensive fragrances should not be presented as current retail prices unless an official or authorized listing confirms the exact product, edition, bottle size, currency and market. A private quote or a collector sale may answer a different question from the price of a bottle available to buy today.
