Sberbank is Russia’s largest bank by estimated net assets, with RUB 66,180.8 billion as of 1 July 2026—well ahead of second-place VTB at RUB 36,413.9 billion. The ranking below uses RIA Rating’s estimates for Russian credit organizations, not market value, deposits, customer numbers, or a measure of which bank is best for consumers.

Russia’s 10 largest credit organizations by net assets

RIA Rating published this ranking on 5 August 2026, using estimated net assets as of 1 July 2026. Its source data come from Bank of Russia Form 101 reports; the ranking covers 333 credit organizations licensed as of publication. Values are estimates, in billions of rubles, and the change column reports the source’s change during the first half of 2026.

How to read the ranking

Net assets are a balance-sheet measure

The figures are snapshots of estimated net assets on 1 July 2026. They are not market capitalizations, deposit totals, or counts of customers. RIA Rating ranks individual credit organizations; the values should not be combined across banking groups unless a source explicitly reports a group-level figure.

NKO NCC is not a conventional bank

The fifth-place entry is NKO NCC, a non-bank credit organization included in the source’s ranking of credit organizations. It is retained in the top ten rather than being silently replaced by the next listed conventional bank.

What changed in the first half of 2026

The top five retained their positions from 1 January to 1 July. T-Bank moved from seventh to sixth, exchanging places with Rosselkhozbank; Bank DOM.RF rose from tenth to ninth, while Sovcombank moved from ninth to tenth. These are changes in rank within this snapshot comparison, not evidence by themselves of a bank’s overall strength.

RIA Rating reported that VTB had the largest absolute net-asset increase in the first half of 2026, at RUB 2.3 trillion. The report attributed the increase to growth in its credit portfolio and liquid-asset investments, along with the completed merger of Pochta Bank early in the second quarter. It also reported that sector net assets grew 1.6% in real terms over the half-year and that 178 of the 333 organizations (53.5%) recorded nominal growth.

What this list does not tell you

A large net-asset base does not establish that a bank is safer, more profitable, or a better fit for a particular customer. Those questions require different evidence and comparison criteria, such as capital adequacy, financial results, deposit terms, fees, services, or customer needs. This ranking answers one narrower question: which individual Russian credit organizations had the largest estimated net assets on the stated date.
