There is no authoritative league table of female forex traders ranked by audited, lifetime returns. Public lists often mix currency traders with stock and futures traders, analysts, educators, and social-media personalities.
The women below were selected for documented involvement in foreign exchange, professional market experience, published research or education, or a verifiable trading-competition result. The order is editorial—it is not a claim that number one produced the highest return in history.
1. Kathy Lien
Kathy Lien is one of the most recognizable names associated with currency trading. Her background includes work on JPMorgan Chase’s interbank foreign-exchange desk, FX strategy leadership, currency research, and authorship of widely used forex books. She has also served as Chief Strategist of DailyFX.com and is currently associated with BKTraders.
Lien’s contribution is broader than personal trading. She has helped explain currency markets to both professional and retail traders through books, market commentary, and educational material. Her work commonly links forex moves to interest rates, central-bank policy, economic data, and market positioning.

What is verified: Her documented distinction is as a currency trader, strategist, author, and educator—not as a hedge-fund manager with publicly audited lifetime returns.
Important qualification: Lien’s current website advertises an “85% weekly win rate” for a strategy. That is a marketing claim published by her site, not an independently audited long-term performance record. A win rate by itself also says nothing about average losses, leverage, drawdown, or net returns.

2. Jane Foley
Jane Foley is Head of FX Strategy at Rabobank and specializes in G10 currency forecasting. Rabobank says she joined the bank in 2010 and has about 30 years of financial-markets experience. Before Rabobank, she worked as an economist, fund manager, and FX strategist at Barclays.
Foley is best classified as an institutional FX strategist and former fund manager rather than a retail day trader. Her analysis is regularly used in coverage of the dollar, euro, sterling, central-bank decisions, inflation, and other forces affecting major exchange rates.
That distinction matters. Institutional currency strategy involves forecasting, scenario analysis, and risk assessment for clients or a financial institution. It is not the same activity as operating a personal leveraged trading account.

3. Raghee Horner
Raghee Horner is a professional trader and analyst whose work spans forex, futures, options, and equities. Simpler Trading identifies her as Managing Director of Futures Trading and says her approach has been applied across futures, forex, and stocks. MoneyShow describes her as a futures and forex analyst and trader with roughly 30 years of market experience.
Horner’s influence comes from combining technical analysis, charting tools, live market commentary, and trading education. Her methods are aimed at helping traders interpret price action and build repeatable processes rather than simply follow individual trade signals.

4. Valeria Bednarik
Valeria Bednarik is FXStreet’s Chief Analyst and an active contributor to currency-market analysis. Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she covers major currency pairs, the U.S. dollar, and the macroeconomic events that can move exchange rates.
Bednarik has described herself as an independent forex trader since 2003. In an earlier FXStreet interview, she explained that she no longer traded intraday as her primary occupation, although she continued to trade and invest.
Her most accurate current description is therefore FX analyst and former professional trader. Her public value lies in interpreting markets and communicating trade-relevant information, not in a publicly verified full-time retail trading record.

5. Jody Samuels
Jody Samuels says she spent 15 years trading currencies at a New York international investment bank before creating FX Trader’s EDGE, an Elliott Wave-based forex education and coaching business.
Her approach combines Elliott Wave analysis with Fibonacci relationships, harmonic patterns, and market-cycle analysis. She provides private and group coaching and has built her public profile around helping traders apply these tools to currency markets.
Samuels’ biography includes self-reported career and earnings claims, including a statement that she made millions trading currencies. Those claims should not be treated as independently audited performance data. They describe her account of her career, not a regulator-verified or third-party-audited return series.
6. Anna Coulling
Anna Coulling identifies herself as a full-time trader who began trading futures through London’s LIFFE before moving across several markets, including spot foreign exchange. Her methodology centers on volume-price analysis: studying the relationship between market activity and price movement.
Rank #3
Coulling wrote Forex Trading Using Volume Price Analysis and offers forex-focused education. Her published work also emphasizes the links between currencies and bonds, equities, and commodities—an important perspective because exchange rates are often affected by changes in interest rates, risk appetite, and cross-asset flows.
Her biography documents trading experience and educational work, but it does not provide a publicly audited, long-term account record. Readers should separate a useful trading framework from proof of future profitability.
7. Karen Foo
Karen Foo is a Singapore-based forex trader, author, speaker, and financial educator. Her official biography says she ranked first in a Singapore-wide forex trading competition involving participants from universities and polytechnics. It also says she placed tenth in an FXStreet contest involving more than 3,000 traders.
Foo’s book Fundamentals of Currency Trading and her educational work focus on currency-market fundamentals, trading psychology, and disciplined execution. Those subjects are particularly relevant for retail traders, who often underestimate the effect of leverage, emotional decision-making, and inconsistent risk limits.

8. Nelisiwe Masango
Nelisiwe Masango is a South African financial entrepreneur associated with forex, equities, commodities, indices, and cryptocurrency education. FXOpen identifies her as the founder of Ubuntu Invest and notes her earlier work establishing Bear Run Investments and FeFine, an initiative focused on women’s financial awareness.
Her inclusion reflects the role of financial education and entrepreneurship in expanding access to markets, not a claim that she has a publicly audited record of forex returns.
There is also an important consumer-protection issue. South Africa’s Financial Sector Conduct Authority has listed Ubuntu Invest (Pty) Ltd as an authorized financial-services provider with FSP number 51420, while warning the public about impersonators using Masango’s name and the company’s branding to solicit money through WhatsApp and promise unrealistic returns.

Those facts should be kept separate. The existence of an authorized company does not prove that every person using its name is legitimate, guarantee profits, or validate a particular trading-return claim. Never send money based solely on a social-media message or an apparent association with a regulated business.

9. Linda Bradford Raschke
Linda Bradford Raschke is one of the best-known women in modern technical-trading history. Her official biography says she has traded for more than four decades, held exchange memberships, founded LBRGroup, and launched commodity-trading-adviser and hedge-fund businesses. She is also known for appearing in Jack Schwager’s The New Market Wizards.
Raschke’s documented specialties are futures, commodities, options, and short-term technical trading rather than spot forex. She belongs on a carefully qualified list because many online articles label her a top female forex trader, even though her primary professional record is broader and is more strongly associated with futures.
Her career is a useful reminder that trading skill can transfer across markets, but a strong futures record does not automatically establish a forex record. The instruments, liquidity, margin rules, contract specifications, and trading hours can differ substantially.

10. Ebru Goren
Ebru Goren earned third place in the 2023 ForexCup Trading Championship, according to FXOpen. The broker reported a 120.83% return during the competition and published an interview about her approach and decision-making.
That result gives Goren a clearer basis for inclusion than an unsupported social-media claim: it was tied to a named forex-trading championship and a defined competition period.
It still needs to be interpreted carefully. A 120.83% contest return may involve rules, leverage, position limits, starting capital, and a time horizon that do not resemble ordinary long-term investing. It does not prove a multi-year risk-adjusted return, an ability to manage outside capital, or a repeatable future result.
Competition report and interview
How to assess a forex trader’s track record
Popularity, a large social-media following, and a high percentage of winning trades are not enough to judge a trader. Before paying for signals, education, or managed-account services, look for information that allows risk and performance to be evaluated together.
Best Value
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Audited or independently verified returns | Self-reported results can omit losing accounts, fees, or periods of inactivity. |
| Time period and sample size | A few weeks or one contest cannot demonstrate long-term consistency. |
| Maximum drawdown | A high return may have required losses that an ordinary trader could not tolerate. |
| Leverage and position sizing | Leverage can magnify both gains and losses and can trigger forced liquidation. |
| Average win versus average loss | A high win rate can still lose money if occasional losses are much larger than wins. |
| Fees, spreads, and slippage | Gross trade results may overstate what an account actually keeps. |
| Regulatory status | Authorization and conduct rules help address fraud risk, but regulation does not guarantee profits. |
Claims about women and forex performance
A frequently repeated claim says women are three to four times more likely to succeed in forex. That is not an established universal fact. Academic findings vary according to the market studied, sample, period, account type, and definition of success.
One study using Japanese retail-FX account data from 2021 to 2023 found that female traders outperformed male traders on two profitability measures. That finding may be interesting, but it cannot be converted into a rule that applies to every country, broker, strategy, or trader. The study’s research listing identifies the evidence and its scope.
The sensible conclusion is narrower: gender-based generalizations are a poor substitute for evaluating a specific trader’s risk management and independently verified results. The same caution applies to claims that a contest proves long-term profitability or that a high win rate proves skill.
Common mistakes in “top female forex trader” lists
- Calling every successful woman a forex trader. Some prominent names are primarily stock traders, futures traders, analysts, executives, or educators.
- Confusing a competition with a career record. Competition results apply to a defined period and set of rules.
- Using win rate without drawdown. A strategy can win frequently and still lose money when its infrequent losses are large.
- Assuming regulation means profitability. A regulated firm can still have impersonators, and authorization does not remove market risk.
- Sending money to an unverified contact. A WhatsApp solicitation, guaranteed-return promise, or pressure to act quickly is a serious warning sign.
FAQ
Who is the best female forex trader?
There is no authoritative ranking based on audited lifetime forex returns. Kathy Lien is among the most recognizable names specifically associated with currency trading, while Jane Foley is a prominent institutional FX strategist. The answer depends on whether you mean personal trading, institutional strategy, research, education, or a competition result.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Are all ten women full-time forex traders?
No. Several work across multiple markets or are primarily analysts and educators. Linda Bradford Raschke is mainly associated with futures, commodities, options, and technical trading; Jane Foley is an institutional strategist; and Valeria Bednarik is best described as an FX analyst and former professional trader.
Does a forex competition prove that a trader is profitable long term?
No. It verifies performance during a particular competition period and under its specific rules. It does not establish a multi-year audited return, risk-adjusted performance, or the ability to manage outside money.
Is an 85% forex win rate reliable evidence of skill?
Not by itself. You would also need average win and loss, leverage, maximum drawdown, fees, slippage, sample size, and independent verification. The 85% weekly win-rate claim associated with Kathy Lien’s site is promotional unless supported by audited records.
How can I avoid forex trading scams?
Check the firm and individual with the relevant financial regulator, use contact details from the regulator’s or firm’s official website, avoid guaranteed-return promises, and never transfer money because of an unsolicited social-media or WhatsApp message. Regulation does not guarantee profits, but failing to verify authorization increases the risk of fraud.

The women on this list represent different parts of the forex ecosystem: interbank trading, institutional strategy, technical analysis, education, research, entrepreneurship, and competition trading. They should not be treated as interchangeable, and none of the documented information here establishes a universal ranking by lifetime returns.
For anyone considering forex, the practical lesson is more important than the leaderboard: verify results independently, examine drawdown and leverage, understand all trading costs, and confirm that any firm or adviser is authorized in your jurisdiction. A famous name can provide ideas and education, but it cannot remove the possibility of losing money.
