Tomo announced a $40 million Series A in March 2022 at a reported $640 million valuation. SVB Capital led the round. The valuation is a historical financing figure; available sources do not establish Tomo’s current valuation.

What is Tomo?

Tomo is a digital mortgage lender. It was founded in October 2020 by Greg Schwartz and Carey Armstrong, both former Zillow executives. In 2022 coverage, Tomo’s focus was purchase mortgages: helping homebuyers move through pre-approval and loan processing with software and data. The “PayPal for the mortgage industry” description was a metaphor for its digital approach, not a claim that Tomo operated a general payments wallet or mortgage-payment processor. GeekWire

How much did Tomo raise, and what was it valued at?

GeekWire reported on March 21, 2022, that Tomo raised $40 million in a Series A at a $640 million valuation. The report said the valuation was double that of Tomo’s $70 million seed round the year before. FinLedger also reported the $40 million raise and $640 million valuation, and said the Series A brought the company’s total funding to $110 million. These are reported financing figures from 2022, not measures of current company value or operating performance. GeekWire · FinLedger

Who invested in Tomo’s Series A?

SVB Capital led the round. GeekWire named Ribbit Capital, NFX, Zigg Capital, Parker89, Telesoft Partners, and 75 & Sunny Ventures as participants. FinLedger also named Ribbit Capital, NFX, Zigg Capital, Telesoft Partners, and Parker89. The reports’ investor lists differ, so the fuller list here is attributed to GeekWire. GeekWire · FinLedger

What was Tomo’s mortgage strategy?

At the time of the funding announcement, Tomo was positioning itself around home-purchase loans rather than refinance lending. GeekWire described underwritten and verified pre-approvals and reported that the verified pre-approval did not require a hard credit inquiry. That description reflects 2022 reporting and should not be taken as a statement of current terms. GeekWire

FinLedger reported that Tomo planned to spend the new capital on software development, data science, and industry relations, while expanding its platform toward availability in all 50 states. CEO Greg Schwartz described the company’s focus as improving the purchase-mortgage experience and said it had not been distracted by temporary profits from refinancing. These were the company’s stated plans and strategy at the time, not evidence of subsequent expansion or results. FinLedger

Is Tomo still a mortgage lender?

Yes. Tomo’s official disclosures effective September 21, 2026 identify Tomo Mortgage, LLC, doing business as Tomo Mortgage, as a mortgage lender with NMLS number 2059741. Its disclosures say loans are not available in every state and provide the current eligible markets. Tomo Mortgage disclosures

The company’s current FAQ says Tomo focuses primarily on purchase mortgages and offers refinance loans in 41 states and Washington, D.C. That is broader than the purchase-only strategy described in the 2022 funding coverage. Current terms identify Tomo Mortgage, LLC as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tomo Networks, Inc. What the 2022 valuation does—and does not—mean

The $640 million figure describes the valuation reported in connection with Tomo’s March 2022 Series A. The sources cited here do not establish a current valuation, current loan volume, or market share. It should therefore be read as a historical financing benchmark, not as a current appraisal of Tomo or a measure of its present-day lending performance.
