What does the reported 400% increase refer to?

Transfermarkt’s profile and transfer details are available here as search-result information rather than directly retrieved page contents, so treat those database figures as reported estimates and records, not as official club disclosures. How Fellows’ rise at West Brom helps explain the attention
Fellows came through West Brom’s academy and progressed into the first team. A July 2023 scouting profile described him as a West Brom U21 player returning from a loan at Crawley Town. By November 2024, Total Football Analysis described him as a 21-year-old academy graduate and first-team regular.

That November analysis said he was leading the Championship for assists, with five at the time. It also cited 1.08 key passes and 5.77 attempted dribbles per 90 minutes. These are figures from the publication’s analysis at that point in the season, not current statistics. Why Fellows left West Brom
West Brom’s accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025 list Fellows among players sold after that reporting date, alongside Torbjørn Heggem, Caleb Taylor and Darnell Furlong. Transfermarkt’s record dates Fellows’ move to Southampton to 29 August 2025 and reports a €9.25 million fee. The available club-account information does not disclose Fellows’ individual sale proceeds, so the reported fee should not be presented as a figure confirmed by West Brom’s accounts.

- Check the measure: a market-value estimate, a transfer fee and a club’s total transfer income answer different questions.
- Check the dates: a percentage change needs comparable figures tied to clearly defined dates.
- Check the publisher: Transfermarkt estimates are third-party database valuations, not official club valuations.
- Check the scope: West Brom’s £19.37 million figure is club-wide income for a stated financial year, not Fellows’ individual fee.
For Fellows, the available evidence supports a clear career progression—from academy player and loanee to first-team regular, followed by a move to Southampton—but it does not establish the exact calculation behind the headline’s 400% figure.
