TNUSRB advertised 1,299 regular Sub-Inspector vacancies in 2025, but the application window has closed. The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board’s Notification No. 01/2025 set online applications for April 7 to May 3, 2025, with corrections permitted through May 13. Its vacancy count, eligibility rules, pay scale and selection stages are useful for understanding the recruitment; applicants seeking a current exam schedule or outcome should check the board’s latest official notices.
How many Sub-Inspector vacancies did TNUSRB announce?
The board announced 1,299 regular vacancies for direct recruitment of Sub-Inspectors of Police (Taluk and Armed Reserve), for men, women and transgender candidates. The notice lists the following regular-post breakdown:

What were the application dates?
Notification No. 01/2025 was issued on April 4, 2025. Online applications were scheduled to open April 7 and close May 3, 2025; the correction deadline was May 13, 2025. All these dates have passed, so the 2025 window is not open for new applications. Applications were to be submitted online through TNUSRB’s official website.

What qualification did applicants need?
Applicants needed a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by the UGC or the government, obtained on or before the notification date. The notice accepted degrees through specified prior-education patterns:
- SSLC followed by higher secondary education in a 10+2+3, 10+2+4 or 10+2+5 pattern.
- SSLC followed by a diploma in a 10+3+2 or 10+3+3 pattern.
- SSLC followed by a two-year ITI course in a 10+2+3 pattern.
Open-university, distance-education and college degrees were acceptable when the prescribed prior-education pattern was followed. The notice excluded candidates who had passed Class 10 directly without Class 9, or Class 12 directly without Class 11. It also excluded a degree obtained directly through open university without the specified pattern.

What was the age limit for TNUSRB SI 2025?
The ordinary age range was 20 to below 30 years as of July 1, 2025. For this range, the notice specified a date of birth on or after July 2, 1995 and on or before July 1, 2005. Upper-age limits differed by category and eligibility conditions:

The 47-year limit applies only to the specified categories and is subject to the notice’s detailed conditions and reference date. Candidates should consult Notification No. 01/2025 for the category-specific rules rather than assume that a single relaxation applies to every applicant.

What were the pay scale and application fee?
The notified pay scale was ₹36,900–₹1,16,600. Scroll’s April 4, 2025 announcement reported an examination fee of ₹500 for an open-quota or departmental-quota application, and ₹1,000 when a departmental applicant applied under both quotas. Refer to the official notification for the applicable fee and payment rules.

The notice describes a multi-stage recruitment process, not a written-exam-only selection. Stages included a written examination, physical measurement, endurance and physical efficiency tests, certificate or document verification, and viva-voce.
