Tamil Nadu’s Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) listed 15,149 estimated vacancies across eight recruitment categories in its 2023 Annual Recruitment Planner. The figure was a forecast, not a final count of posts filled: the planner stated, “** Vacancy Position Subject to change.” Its projected notification and examination months have now passed, so the calendar is historical rather than a source of current openings.
What the 15,149 figure covered
The TRB planner counted estimated vacancies for eight post recruitments: assistant professors in arts and science colleges and colleges of education; Block Educational Officer; Secondary Grade Teacher; BT Assistant/Graduate Teacher; government polytechnic lecturer; assistant professor in government engineering colleges; assistant professor in government law colleges; and Post Graduate Assistant. The total did not include a vacancy count for TNTET, which the planner listed separately as an eligibility test.
The largest estimates were 6,553 Secondary Grade Teacher posts and 4,000 assistant professor posts in government arts and science colleges and colleges of education. The full breakdown below preserves the planner’s projected months and estimates.

All estimates and month projections are from the TRB’s Annual Recruitment Planner – 2023. The board’s note says the vacancy position was subject to change; the figures therefore should not be read as confirmed vacancies or appointments.
What the calendar said about timing
The planner projected recruitment notifications from January through August 2023, followed by TNTET Paper I and II notification in December 2023. It projected examinations for the post recruitments between April and November 2023, with TNTET listed for March 2024. Those are tentative months in a forward-looking 2023 calendar, not guaranteed dates. Every projected month has passed.

The old planner cannot establish whether any listed role is open now or provide current application or examination dates. For subsequent announcements, use the TRB’s official website and notice page and look for the latest notice for the specific recruitment. TRB also distinguishes its merit-list work from appointment and posting matters, which candidates should clarify with the relevant user department.
