The claim that TNPSC Civil Services Examination-II vacancies increased to 2,540 posts is not confirmed by the official material available here. TNPSC’s original 2025 Notification No. 11/2025 listed 50 Group II and 595 Group IIA vacancies—645 combined—and said the totals were tentative. The commission’s index lists later addenda, but the revised total and post-wise changes cannot be verified from those documents here.

How many TNPSC Group II and IIA vacancies were there in the 2025 notification?

TNPSC’s Notification No. 11/2025, published on 15 July 2025 for the Combined Civil Services Examination-II, initially listed 50 Group II vacancies and 595 Group IIA vacancies, for 645 in total. These are the original notification figures, not a confirmed final count. Read Notification No. 11/2025.

The notification described vacancies as tentative and said they could be modified before counselling. TNPSC’s notifications index lists Addendum 11A and Addendum 11B for the recruitment. The accessible information does not establish whether either addendum raised the total to 2,540, nor does it provide a verified revised breakdown by group or post. Treat 2,540 as an unconfirmed claim unless you can check the relevant official addendum.

What is the revised TNPSC Group II vacancy count?

A revised Group II count—and a revised Group IIA count—cannot be confirmed from the available figures. The original notification’s 50 and 595 vacancies should not be mistaken for a later total, while the headline figure of 2,540 should not be treated as official confirmation.

For a definitive answer, compare the original notice with the complete official vacancy addenda for Notification No. 11/2025. Look for the addendum date, the specific posts changed, and whether the stated total covers Group II, Group IIA, or both. A combined headline figure alone does not show how vacancies are distributed.

Is the 2025 TNPSC Civil Services II recruitment still open?

No. TNPSC’s official portal marks Notification No. 11/2025 as closed. Its application deadline was 13 August 2025, and the preliminary examination was scheduled for 28 September 2025; those dates are historical, not a current application window.

The portal lists a separate Group II/IIA recruitment, Notification No. 07/2026. It gives 11 August 2026 as the notification and application start date, 9 September 2026 as the application end date, and 1 November 2026 as the preliminary examination date. These belong to the 2026 cycle, not the 2025 vacancy claim. Check the TNPSC application portal for the current status and cycle-specific instructions.

What should candidates check before applying or preparing?

Confirm the cycle and vacancy addenda

Use the notice and all applicable addenda for the recruitment cycle you intend to enter. A change to vacancies in one cycle does not automatically apply to a later notification.

Check post-specific eligibility

Qualifications and age rules vary by post and category, so there is no single eligibility rule that applies to every Group II or Group IIA vacancy. Read the relevant post’s requirements and applicant instructions in the official notification. TNPSC also states that admission at examination stages is provisional and subject to eligibility.

Match your preparation to the service and exam format

The 2025 notice describes an objective preliminary examination, mains stages, and syllabi in Annexure III. Group II and Group IIA have distinct mains formats. Before choosing study materials or a practice course, match them to the correct service, post, syllabus, and examination cycle; a resource based on an older format may not fit a newer notification. The notification is available from TNPSC’s official notice PDF.
