Tiptop’s idea was to let shoppers trade in something they already owned and apply its value to a purchase at a participating retailer. Its 2024 descriptions offered either a full-price purchase followed by a rebate after the trade-in was assessed, or installments with the credit applied at checkout. But those are historical terms: as of October 6, 2026, a report said Tiptop’s main website redirected to Mother Computer, and current service availability has not been established.
How did Tiptop work at checkout?
Tiptop was designed to put trade-in, payment, and shipping into a retailer’s checkout flow. In the launch-era process described by BGR in July 2024, a shopper selected Tiptop at a participating store and was sent to Tiptop to get a quote. The shopper chose an eligible item they owned from Tiptop’s catalog and received a value to apply toward the new purchase. Tiptop’s June 2024 launch announcement said the trade-in could fund a purchase in a different product category.
The payment route depended on how the shopper wanted to pay. Tiptop’s historical consumer page and BGR’s account described two options:
- Pay in full: Pay the retailer’s full purchase price, then receive a rebate after Tiptop assessed the trade-in.
- Pay over time: Choose an installment option with the trade-in credit applied at checkout.
These were descriptions of the service in 2024, not verified current checkout terms. The available sources do not establish which retailers, items, or payment options are available now.

When would the trade-in credit arrive?
The timing depended on the payment route in Tiptop’s historical descriptions. With full payment, the shopper paid first and received a rebate after the item was assessed. With installments, the quoted credit was applied at checkout. Tiptop’s separate selling FAQ, dated November 21, 2024, describes a seller payout after inspection rather than a rebate tied to a purchase: payment by debit or bank transfer within three business days after receipt. That FAQ is not confirmation of today’s checkout-trade-in terms.
How did shoppers send in an item?
Tiptop’s 2024 consumer-page description said it provided a QR code for prepaid shipping or arranged an on-demand Uber pickup; it named UPS and FedEx as shipping options. Separately, Tiptop’s November 21, 2024 selling FAQ described a seller process using a UPS drop-off or Uber pickup. It told sellers to send the item within seven days to retain the quoted selling price.

Under that seller FAQ, Tiptop assessed the received item and confirmed payment. If the item differed from the description or had a problem, Tiptop could make a new offer; a seller who rejected the revised offer could have the item returned. These seller terms should not be treated as current or automatically applied to checkout trades.
What could shoppers trade in?
Tiptop said its catalog contained more than 50,000 items in June and July 2024. BGR’s July 2024 examples included video game consoles, portable speakers, drones, and power tools. Tiptop’s launch announcement described using an item in one category to help pay for a purchase in another. The historical catalog count does not establish the current selection, and it does not mean every model or condition qualified.

Which stores accepted Tiptop?
BGR reported eight partner retailers as of July 19, 2024: Phone Daddy, Nothing, Cradlewise, Daylight, King of Christmas, Backbone, Upgraded, and MagFast. Tiptop’s June 27, 2024 launch release named early partners including Nothing Tech, Cradlewise, Backbone, Phone Daddy, and King of Christmas. These are dated lists, not a current store directory. A retailer’s past participation does not confirm that Tiptop is integrated into its checkout today.

Current consumer-service availability is uncertain. A report published October 6, 2026 says Tiptop’s main website redirects to Mother Computer. The Tiptop consumer and company pages surfaced in available search results are stale, and the redirect alone does not establish whether the consumer trade-in product has definitively ended. There is not enough current information here to confirm an active checkout, retailer partner, or sign-up path.

For context on the historical figures, Tiptop claimed an average trade-in value of $300 per transaction in a July 3, 2024 company article; that is a company claim, not an independently audited result. Its consumer page separately advertised average savings of $300 per order, another unverified figure that should not be confused with average trade-in value. In its June 27, 2024 launch release, Tiptop also said its internal data put the value of catalog-represented consumer goods at $1,800 per average U.S. household and estimated $280 billion in untapped U.S. consumer spending power. Those are company estimates, not independent market measurements.
