Airbus ranks first, Boeing second and Lockheed Martin third among publicly traded aircraft manufacturers in the CompaniesMarketCap ranking accessed on October 8, 2026. The table below shows the ranking’s ten largest entries by displayed market capitalization on that date. These values change with share prices and are a dated snapshot, not a permanent order.

CompaniesMarketCap’s aircraft-manufacturer category excludes manufacturers that are not publicly traded. Its ranking and market-cap data are updated daily. The country labels below are the ones displayed in the ranking.

What market cap tells you—and what it doesn’t
Market capitalization is the market value of a publicly listed company. CompaniesMarketCap describes the general calculation as share price multiplied by outstanding shares. It reflects how the stock market values the company at a given time, not how many aircraft it builds or sells.

The top-three positions are therefore a market-value comparison, not a verdict on which manufacturer is largest by aircraft output or performs best operationally.

“Plane maker” is informal. The table follows an aircraft-manufacturer category rather than a broader list of aerospace companies. A wider aerospace ranking can include firms whose businesses center on engines, defence, space, or components, so its results are not directly interchangeable with this one.

The category boundary is not always simple. Airbus, for example, describes activity across commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence and space. GE Aerospace describes aircraft-engine production and its CFM 50/50 joint venture with Safran Aircraft Engines. Those businesses illustrate why an aerospace-company ranking may include companies that do not fit a narrower aircraft-manufacturer list in the same way.
