SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, is identified by Guinness World Records as the most expensive sporting venue. Guinness says its final construction price was believed to exceed $5 billion; a separate ranking puts it at $6.75 billion in dollars adjusted through February 2025. Those figures use different cost bases, so they should not be treated as competing estimates of the same kind.
Which stadium is the most expensive?
Guinness World Records names SoFi Stadium the most expensive sporting venue and says its final construction price was believed to exceed $5 billion. Its page also cites an internal NFL projection of $4.963 billion from 2018, which was a projection rather than the final reported price. Guinness cautions that records may change and are not published immediately. Guinness World Records’ record page
Front Office Sports reported a higher figure of $6.75 billion for SoFi after adjusting for inflation through February 2025. That is an inflation-adjusted ranking figure, not the same measure as Guinness’s believed final construction price. Front Office Sports’ February 2025 ranking
SoFi is also the centerpiece of a much larger development. The stadium cost should not be confused with the value or cost of the surrounding mixed-use project. The Associated Press described the stadium as privately financed and part of that wider development in December 2023. Associated Press coverage of SoFi Stadium

How the published stadium figures compare
The clearest like-for-like comparison in the available figures is a Nashville government benchmark of NFL stadiums, with all costs expressed in 2023 dollars. It is an NFL-focused comparison, not a comprehensive ranking of every sports venue worldwide.
| Venue | Reported cost | Cost basis |
|---|---|---|
| SoFi Stadium | $4.512 billion | 2023 dollars |
| MetLife Stadium | $2.561 billion | 2023 dollars |
| Allegiant Stadium | $2.070 billion | 2023 dollars |
| AT&T Stadium | $1.816 billion | 2023 dollars |
| Mercedes-Benz Stadium | $1.688 billion | 2023 dollars |
| Levi’s Stadium | $1.566 billion | 2023 dollars |
| U.S. Bank Stadium | $1.313 billion | 2023 dollars |
| Lucas Oil Stadium | $1.192 billion | 2023 dollars |
These figures come from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County’s 2023 report. They are useful for comparing listed NFL venues on a common dollar-year basis, but do not establish a worldwide ranking across all sports. Nashville government stadium-cost comparison

Why rankings put the same stadiums in different places
A stadium-cost list is only meaningful if it says what the number covers. Three choices can change the apparent order:
- Nominal or inflation-adjusted dollars: A historical construction price in the dollars spent at the time will look different from a figure converted to a later year. SoFi’s reported amount above $5 billion and its $6.75 billion figure adjusted through February 2025 illustrate the distinction.
- Dollar year: The Nashville table uses 2023 dollars, while Front Office Sports’ figures are adjusted through February 2025. Do not compare them as though they were quoted in the same year’s dollars.
- Project scope: Some totals include land or infrastructure. A stadium budget is not necessarily limited to the building itself, and it should not be combined with the cost of a surrounding development unless the source explicitly does so.
Allegiant Stadium makes the scope issue concrete. The Las Vegas Stadium Authority says its current development budget is $1.97 billion, including land and infrastructure. That figure is not identical to the Nashville table’s $2.070 billion in 2023 dollars: the sources use different presentations and cost bases. Las Vegas Stadium Authority FAQ

What Allegiant Stadium’s budget includes
The Stadium Authority’s FAQ gives a current development budget of $1.97 billion, including land and infrastructure. It identifies up to $750 million in public investment and $1.2 billion in StadCo investment under that budget. The Authority says the budget increased twice because of enhancements financed by higher-than-planned personal seat license revenues.
These are project-budget and funding figures from the Authority, not a general claim that every stadium’s published construction total includes the same categories. Allegiant is also listed by Guinness at an estimated $1.9 billion, another reason to identify the source and scope whenever quoting a cost.

What a stadium-cost ranking can—and cannot—show
The available figures support a clear conclusion that SoFi is at the top of the cited comparisons, but they do not amount to a fully exhaustive global census. The detailed common-dollar-year comparison is limited to NFL venues, while Guinness’s record identifies the most expensive sporting venue using its own published record and qualification.
Rank order can also be unreliable when a source’s table has an internal inconsistency. In Front Office Sports’ February 2025 table, AT&T Stadium is listed at $1.70 billion and Levi’s Stadium at $1.74 billion in February 2025 dollars, but the displayed ordering places AT&T above Levi’s. By the stated values, Levi’s is higher. Treat those figures as reported estimates, not as the result of a uniform independent audit.

For a useful comparison, check the venue, dollar year, inflation treatment, and whether land or infrastructure is included. A large number alone does not tell you whether two stadiums were priced on the same basis.
