Why depreciation can matter more than repair bills
In Edmunds’ model, depreciation is the largest listed cost: $56,406 over five years for the 2026 coupe. That is an estimate of lost vehicle value, not money paid to a shop or lender. Your eventual resale value depends on your purchase price, the car’s condition and mileage, and market conditions. A buyer who negotiates a lower price or sells into a stronger market may experience a different result.

How fuel, insurance and service affect the budget
Fuel
Edmunds models $18,132 in fuel over five years for the 2026 coupe at 15,000 miles annually. Lexus’s 2025 LC brochure says its stated ratings are achieved with premium unleaded gasoline rated at least 91 octane, and warns that performance will decrease if premium fuel is not used. Your actual fuel spending will depend on mileage, local fuel prices and driving conditions. Lexus 2025 LC brochure
Insurance
Edmunds’ modeled five-year insurance cost for the coupe is $6,371. That is an average estimate, not a quote for your household. Age, driving history, garaging address, coverage and insurer can change a real premium, so obtain quotes using the specific vehicle and coverage you intend to carry.

Maintenance and repairs
Edmunds estimates $10,310 for maintenance and $836 for repairs over five years for the 2026 coupe. Lexus’s 2025 LC brochure says the first two scheduled maintenance visits are complimentary at the earlier of six months or 5,000 miles, and 12 months or 10,000 miles. The same brochure lists a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. Those terms are from the 2025 brochure; check the applicable model-year warranty and services guide for the vehicle you are considering. Lexus 2025 LC brochure

How to estimate your own LC 500 cost
Use the published estimates as starting points, then substitute your circumstances. The figures can diverge when the model year or body style, annual mileage, purchase price, resale assumptions, loan terms, local taxes and fees, or insurance profile differs.
- Start with the exact car. Confirm model year, coupe or convertible, options, negotiated price and expected delivery or dealer charges.
- Use your own financing terms. Compare the amount financed, down payment, APR and loan term with the estimate’s 10%-down, 60-month, above-average-credit assumptions.
- Add local taxes and fees. Estimate registration and transaction costs for your location rather than relying on a national model.
- Get an insurance quote. Provide the vehicle identification details when available and match the coverage and deductible you expect to keep.
- Adjust mileage and fuel. Use your annual driving estimate and local premium-fuel price; driving conditions affect consumption.
- Budget for service beyond included visits. Check the maintenance schedule and warranty terms for the exact model year, then obtain local service pricing for work that is not covered or complimentary.
- Consider resale value separately. Depreciation is an estimate, not a bill. Use a plausible future sale value for your mileage and condition rather than assuming the modeled figure is certain.
What the five-year total does—and does not—tell you
A five-year ownership estimate combines costs that behave differently. Fuel, insurance and scheduled service are expenses you may pay during ownership; financing and taxes depend on the transaction; depreciation reflects a projected change in value. The totals help compare scenarios under stated assumptions, but they cannot establish what your particular LC 500 will cost without your deal, location, driving pattern and insurance quote.
