The Top 21 Richest Stars Under 21: Why No Reliable Ranking Is Available

There is no reliable, comparable ranking of the 21 richest stars under 21. Available athlete figures cover one year of estimated earnings, not net worth.

There is no reliable, comparable list establishing the 21 richest stars under 21. Public estimates of young celebrities’ net worth are difficult to verify and compare, and the available figures here measure athletes’ earnings over a year—not their total wealth. Treating those earnings as a “richest” ranking would be misleading.

Why a definitive under-21 ranking cannot be supported

“Richest” ordinarily refers to net worth: assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. That is different from money earned during a year. A person’s earnings do not show what they still own after taxes, expenses, fees, investments, or debts, and the available figures do not provide comparable balance sheets for young stars.

To rank 21 people fairly, a source would need comparable net-worth estimates, a clear definition of who counts as a star, and an as-of date. The available evidence does not establish those things for 21 people under 21, so naming a top 21 or ordering individuals by wealth would imply more certainty than the figures allow.

What the available earnings comparison says—and does not say

Forbes’ 2025 highest-paid athletes aged 25 and under article, published May 15 and updated May 27, reports estimated income collected from May 1, 2024, through May 1, 2025. Forbes describes the estimates as before taxes and agent fees. They are earnings for that 12-month period, not net-worth estimates.

#1 Best Overall

The five athletes named in the article’s under-25 comparison were ages 23 to 25, so none qualifies for an under-21 list. Their figures illustrate the distinction between annual earnings and accumulated wealth:

Athlete Age in Forbes article Estimated earnings, May 1, 2024–May 1, 2025
Trevor Lawrence 25 $80.5 million
Justin Jefferson 25 $72.2 million
Anthony Edwards 23 $62.1 million
Erling Haaland 24 $62 million
Vinicius Jr. 24 $55 million

For those five athletes together, Forbes estimated $332 million in earnings before taxes and agent fees: $273 million from salaries and bonuses and $59 million from sponsorships, appearances, and other business activity. The combined total describes the same measurement window; it does not establish how much any athlete is worth.

What is known about Lamine Yamal’s reported figure

A Forbes search-result extract for a 2025 highest-paid soccer players earnings article showed $43 million for Lamine Yamal and listed him as 19. However, the underlying profile could not be verified, so this figure should be treated as an unconfirmed search-result lead, not a confirmed estimate or a net-worth figure. It also cannot support a complete under-21 ranking.

How to assess a future “richest” list

A credible ranking should make its measurement and boundaries explicit. Before relying on one, check whether it:

  • Ranks net worth rather than annual earnings, salary, prize money, or endorsements.
  • Uses comparable estimates for every person and gives an as-of date.
  • Defines the age cutoff and confirms that each person meets it on that date.
  • Explains which assets, liabilities, and income sources are included, and whether figures are before or after taxes and fees.
  • Identifies estimates as estimates rather than audited personal financial statements.

Without those details, a list may combine incompatible figures or confuse a high-earning year with lasting wealth. The Forbes comparison is useful for understanding reported athlete earnings, but its age range and measure do not answer who the richest stars under 21 are.
