The commonly published estimates are striking: Jerry Seinfeld is estimated at $900 million, Julia Louis-Dreyfus at $250 million, Jason Alexander at $50 million, and Michael Richards at $30 million. These are Celebrity Net Worth estimates—not audited disclosures—and the sharpest difference is reportedly not just salary: Seinfeld and co-creator Larry David held backend participation in the show, while the three co-stars did not secure comparable ownership.
What is the Seinfeld cast’s estimated net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth’s published point estimates put Jerry Seinfeld well ahead of his three co-stars. They should be read as estimates from one publisher, not verified statements of assets, debts, taxes, or investment holdings. The cited sources do not provide audited personal balance sheets or a common valuation method for all four performers.

| Performer | Celebrity Net Worth estimate | Reported final-season salary |
|---|---|---|
| Jerry Seinfeld | $900 million (Celebrity Net Worth estimate) | $1 million per episode, as reported by TIME in 2021 (TIME) |
| Julia Louis-Dreyfus | $250 million (Celebrity Net Worth estimate) | $600,000 per episode, as reported by TIME in 2021 (TIME) |
| Jason Alexander | $50 million (Celebrity Net Worth estimate) | $600,000 per episode, as reported by TIME in 2021 (TIME) |
| Michael Richards | $30 million (Celebrity Net Worth estimate) | $600,000 per episode, as reported by TIME in 2021 (TIME) |
The salary figures are reported compensation for the final season, not a measure of total career income or current wealth. Net worth is different again: it reflects an estimate of assets minus liabilities, rather than a running total of paychecks.
Why is Jerry Seinfeld estimated to be worth so much more?
Final-season salaries were high for all four—but not equal
Seinfeld ran for nine seasons, from 1989 to 1998, and had 180 episodes. TIME reported that Seinfeld earned $1 million per episode in the final season, while Louis-Dreyfus, Alexander, and Richards each earned $600,000 per episode. Celebrity Net Worth separately estimates Seinfeld’s base salary across the series at about $60 million and estimates roughly $45 million in base salary for each co-star. Those lifetime salary totals are secondary-source estimates, not payroll records.

Backend participation changed the later economics
The crucial reported distinction is ownership. Celebrity Net Worth says Seinfeld and co-creator Larry David each held backend equity that grew to 15%. It estimates the series generated $5 billion across syndication, streaming, DVDs, and merchandise, and attributes about $250 million apiece to the original 1998 syndication deal and about $750 million each in cumulative show-related earnings to Seinfeld and David. These are reported estimates, not audited accounting or proof of cash received in a particular year. Franchise revenue, a participant’s share, and personal net worth are three different measures.
TIME’s 2021 business history likewise describes the show generating billions after its finale and reports that NBC was estimated to make $200 million a year from the series during its ninth and final season. TIME also reported Seinfeld’s 1998 earnings at $267 million; that is a reported annual earnings figure, not a net-worth valuation.

The co-stars sought ownership, but reportedly did not get it
Celebrity Net Worth says Louis-Dreyfus, Alexander, and Richards sought backend participation during their 1997 contract renegotiation but were denied it. The account says they later received standard Screen Actors Guild residuals for reruns and a share of DVD sales. Residuals are not the same as an ownership stake in the show, and the available reporting does not establish the co-stars’ precise annual residual payments.
Alexander described the negotiation in a Backstage interview: “Julia, Michael and I, during our big renegotiation for the final year, asked for something that I will go to my grave saying we should have had, and that is back-end participation in the profits for the show. It was categorically denied to us, which forced us to then ask for ungodly salaries. We make very little, standard Screen Actors Guild residuals for the reruns.” (Backstage)
What the estimates do—and do not—say about each performer
Jerry Seinfeld: $900 million estimated
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Seinfeld’s net worth at $900 million and disputes Bloomberg’s 2024 characterization of him as a billionaire, reporting that a representative for Seinfeld called that characterization inaccurate. The competing claims are not independently verified balance sheets; the cited reporting does not establish a definitive figure. (Celebrity Net Worth; Biography.com)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus: $250 million estimated
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Louis-Dreyfus’s net worth at $250 million. It says the amount she may have inherited from her father’s estate has not been publicly disclosed, and she has disputed descriptions of her as a billionaire heiress. Her personal estimate should not be enlarged by counting assets belonging to her extended family. (Celebrity Net Worth)
Rank #4
Jason Alexander: $50 million estimated
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Alexander’s net worth at $50 million. That estimate is distinct from the source’s reported figure of roughly $45 million in base salary across the show’s run: one is an estimate of current net worth, the other a historical salary estimate. (Celebrity Net Worth; Celebrity Net Worth’s cast earnings account)
Michael Richards: $30 million estimated
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Richards’s net worth at $30 million. Like the other published figures, it is a point estimate rather than a public accounting of his finances. (Celebrity Net Worth)

How to interpret the spectacular numbers
- Do not treat an estimate as a disclosure. A celebrity net-worth figure is not a confirmed account balance, and the sources cited here do not establish the performers’ full assets and liabilities.
- Do not add gross franchise revenue to a performer’s fortune. The reported $5 billion is an aggregate revenue estimate for the show’s business, not a cast payout or individual net-worth figure.
- Do not confuse residuals with backend equity. Residuals are payments associated with reuse under applicable agreements; backend participation is a share in a project’s economics. The reporting describes different arrangements for the leads.
- Keep family wealth separate from personal wealth. In Louis-Dreyfus’s case, the value of any inheritance is not publicly specified in the cited account.
