What Stanley says about lead in its insulation seal
Stanley says its vacuum-insulation manufacturing process uses a sealing material that includes lead at the base of its products. According to the company’s FAQ, after the vacuum is sealed, the area is covered by a durable stainless-steel layer. Stanley says no lead is present on surfaces that contact the consumer or the contents of the product. This is the company’s explanation, not an independent safety finding.

Is the Stanley travel-mug recall about Quenchers?
No. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall on December 12, 2024, covering about 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs. The agency said their lids could detach after threads shrank with heat and torque, creating a burn hazard. The recall notice names those travel-mug products, not the Quencher tumbler. Why “Stanley Cup” can mean two different things
The phrase also refers to hockey’s championship trophy. According to the NHL, the trophy became the league’s championship trophy in 1926. This article uses “Stanley Cup” only in the popular shorthand for the company’s Quencher tumbler; the NHL trophy is a separate subject.
