There is no verified, transparent ranking here establishing who the richest male models in the world were in 2023. The strongest documented figures are Forbes estimates of male models’ earnings over a 12-month period ending in September 2013—not their net worth, and not their 2023 income. Those figures put Sean O’Pry first, but they cannot answer “Who’s the Wealthiest?” in 2023.
Who were the richest male models in the world as of 2023?
A reliable answer requires comparable net-worth estimates dated to 2023 and a clear method for calculating them. The available evidence does not establish such a ranking. Online lists may publish estimated fortunes, but without a transparent method and year-specific support, they should not be treated as verified financial facts.
The best-documented ranking located is a Forbes list reported by ABC News in 2013. It compares estimated earnings over the preceding 12 months, not accumulated wealth. Its figures are historical and cannot establish who was wealthiest in 2023. ABC News’ report on Forbes’ 2013 ranking
What the documented ranking actually measured
ABC News reported the following estimates for the top three male models on Forbes’ 2013 highest-paid list:

#1 Best Overall
| Model | Reported estimate | What the amount represents |
|---|---|---|
| Sean O’Pry | $1.5 million | Estimated earnings in the 12 months preceding the 2013 list, as reported by ABC News |
| David Gandy | $1.4 million | Estimated earnings in the 12 months preceding the 2013 list, as reported by ABC News |
| Simon Nessman | $1.1 million | Estimated earnings in the 12 months preceding the 2013 list, as reported by ABC News |
These amounts are not estimates of the models’ net worth. Earnings measure money brought in during a period; net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities at a point in time. The two measures cannot be substituted for one another.
How large was the earnings gap in the 2013 report?
ABC News, reporting Forbes’ figures, said the ten highest-earning male models earned an estimated $8 million combined from September 2012 to September 2013. In the same period, the ten highest-earning female models made an estimated $83 million combined. These are period-specific earnings estimates, not comparisons of individual fortunes or current pay. ABC News’ 2013 report
O’Pry addressed the contrast in the report, saying, “I’m not going to be complaining about not making $42 million. … At the end of the day I’m very, very blessed with what I do.” The remark gives context to the earnings comparison; it does not provide a net-worth figure.
Why business ownership does not establish net worth
A model’s wealth can come from work or businesses beyond runway appearances and campaigns. For example, a 2022 Forbes interview describes David Gandy as the owner and creative mind behind David Gandy Wellwear. That establishes a business connection, but it does not disclose the business’s value, Gandy’s ownership share, liabilities, or his personal net worth. It is not enough to place him at a particular position in a wealth ranking. Forbes’ 2022 interview with David Gandy

Net-worth lists often rely on estimates rather than disclosed financial statements. Check what each list actually claims before comparing its names or figures:
- Measurement: Does it estimate net worth, or report annual earnings?
- Date: Is the estimate explicitly for 2023, or does the page reflect another year?
- Method: Does the publisher explain its sources and how it calculated the figure?
- Income and assets: Is a documented business or endorsement being treated as proof of personal wealth without accounting for ownership, costs, or debt?
For instance, Enterprise Wired labels its figures approximate and says its list reflects the industry in 2026. That later list is not evidence of anyone’s net worth in 2023. Enterprise Wired’s approximate 2026 list
