These are Celebrity Net Worth estimates, not audited disclosures, and the available figures do not support a definitive ranking of the film’s entire cast. Phoebe Cates’s figure is also combined with her husband Kevin Kline, rather than being a Cates-only estimate.
How the four published estimates compare
The figures below are Celebrity Net Worth estimates accessed October 8, 2026. The site does not provide a common transparent methodology in the material reviewed, so treat the numbers as attributed estimates—not confirmed personal wealth or directly comparable financial records.
| Rank among estimates reviewed | Cast member | Role in the film | Published estimate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sean Penn | Jeff Spicoli | $70 million; individual estimate |
| 2 | Phoebe Cates | Linda Barrett | $35 million combined with husband Kevin Kline; not a Cates-only estimate |
| 3 | Jennifer Jason Leigh | Stacy Hamilton | $5 million; individual estimate |
| 4 | Judge Reinhold | Brad Hamilton | $2.5 million; individual estimate |
These ranks apply only to the four estimates found, not to the film’s complete ensemble. Cates’s combined figure is especially different in scope from the three individual estimates, so it should not be read as evidence that she personally has more wealth than the actors listed below her.
Why this is not a ranking of the whole cast
Fast Times at Ridgemont High is the 1982 comedy-drama directed by Amy Heckerling and written by Cameron Crowe. The American Film Institute’s catalog identifies the central characters and notes brief appearances by Nicolas Cage, Eric Stoltz, and Forest Whitaker. Universal Pictures At Home lists a broader group of stars, including Ray Walston, Brian Backer, Robert Romanus, and Scott Thomson.

Comparable wealth estimates for several of these other cast members—including Cage, Whitaker, and Anthony Edwards—were not established here. That absence does not mean they have less wealth; it means there is not enough consistent information to place them in this comparison. A defensible full-cast ranking would require comparable coverage, a consistent definition of net worth, a shared valuation date, and transparent sourcing.
What the film’s box office does—and does not—tell you
The Numbers database lists a $4,500,000 production budget and $27,093,116 in worldwide box office for the film. Those database figures describe production and theatrical revenue; they do not establish the film’s profit, any actor’s salary, or an individual cast member’s net worth. Box-office totals cannot be divided among cast members to infer personal fortunes.
