Why the estimates differ
The cited articles do not provide a common, transparent asset-level method for valuing players’ net worth. As a result, the figures are not directly comparable measurements, and averaging them would imply a precision the sources do not establish.

One list’s broader ranking also illustrates how estimates and selections vary. Economic Times / ET Online’s October 17, 2023 list placed Jacques Kallis at $110 million, Sourav Ganguly at $80 million, Ricky Ponting at $70 million, Brian Lara at $60 million, Chris Gayle at $45 million, Shane Watson at $40 million, and AB de Villiers at $25 million. Times of India / TOI-Online’s July 28 list instead included Shane Warne at $50 million, Jacques Kallis at $48 million, Virender Sehwag at $40 million, and Yuvraj Singh at $35 million, alongside Ponting and Lara.

The viral claim that former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist was worth $380 million was a mistaken-identity case, according to The Indian Express’s March 16, 2023 report. It involved a namesake associated with F45, not the cricketer. Gilchrist joked in a clarification quoted by the paper: “A case of mistaken identity here folks. Unless of course my namesake who founded F45 played cricket, in which case it’s completely accurate 😂”

Newschecker’s 2023 report also described the namesake confusion and said it could not independently confirm whether CEOWORLD’s page had been corrected. The $380 million figure should therefore not be presented as the cricketer’s wealth.

- Check the date. These figures describe estimates published in 2023; they do not establish anyone’s net worth in 2026.
- Keep the attribution attached. A ranking is a publisher’s estimate, not an official financial disclosure.
- Do not treat rank order as definitive. Different outlets report different amounts for the same player and do not document a shared valuation method.
