Sportsunfold’s list, published December 9, 2022, estimated the following net worths and ranked the boxers in this order. These are the publisher’s estimates; the figures were not independently established personal balance sheets.

Why 2022 rankings do not match
The consulted lists used different estimates and did not agree on who belonged in the top ten. ExactNetWorth’s March 2, 2022 article, which said it compiled figures from Forbes, The Richest, and Celebrity Net Worth, estimated Mayweather at $450 million, Foreman at $300 million, Pacquiao at $220 million, De La Hoya at $200 million, and Canelo Alvarez at $140 million. It did not provide the same lineup as Sportsunfold’s December list.

Planet Sport’s July 13, 2022 list placed Mayweather first at £400 million, Foreman second at £222 million, and Pacquiao third at $163 million. These values mix currencies and should not be compared as if they were a consistent dollar-denominated table. The accessible information for that page provided only part of its roster, so a complete Planet Sport top ten cannot be confirmed here.
For example, Pacquiao’s estimate was $220 million in ExactNetWorth’s March article and $250 million in Sportsunfold’s December list; Planet Sport gave a £163 million estimate in July. Those differences reflect source-specific estimates, not a precise calculation of changes in his wealth over 2022.

Net worth is an estimate of assets minus liabilities at a point in time. Annual earnings measure income over a specified period. They answer different questions: a boxer can earn a large amount in one year without having that amount as net worth.
Forbes’ 2022 highest-paid-athletes list covered the 12 months through May 1, 2022. Contemporary coverage reported estimated earnings of $90 million for Canelo Alvarez and $62 million for Tyson Fury during that period. These are annual earnings figures, not estimates of either boxer’s net worth. Forbes’ methodology described off-field earnings as estimates of sponsorships, appearance fees, licensing income, and business returns, informed by industry conversations.
