The reMarkable 2 Black Friday offer was a past promotion, not a currently verifiable 2026 deal. Announced on November 21, 2024, the sale took $89 off two reMarkable 2 bundles through December 2, 2024: one with the Book Folio and one with the Type Folio keyboard cover. Both bundles included the Marker Plus stylus, while the standalone tablet was not discounted.
For shoppers comparing old stock or refurbished units today, the more important question is value. reMarkable’s official store now says the reMarkable 2 was discontinued in 2026 and replaced by the reMarkable Paper Pure, although accessories remain available and software updates continue.

The advertised $89 saving applied to the bundle price—not to the reMarkable 2 tablet by itself. The reported promotion was scheduled to end on December 2, 2024, and the dollar prices referred to the U.S. market. Regional pricing, taxes, currency and availability could differ.

Book Folio or Type Folio?
Choose the Book Folio if handwriting is your main use
The Book Folio is the simpler and lighter option for people buying a reMarkable primarily as a digital notebook or reading-and-annotation device. It protects the tablet while leaving the writing experience central, without adding a keyboard that you may rarely use.
It makes the most financial sense when you do not expect to type longer drafts, meeting notes or documents on the device. Paying extra for a keyboard cover you seldom use reduces the practical value of the bundle.
Choose the Type Folio if you will type frequently
The Type Folio adds a physical keyboard and is the better fit for buyers who want to move between handwritten notes and focused typing. It can make the reMarkable more useful for drafting, journaling and longer text-based work.

The Type Folio is worth considering when its focused, distraction-free design matches your workflow—not simply because a keyboard sounds more versatile.
Why the Marker Plus was significant
Both discounted bundles included the Marker Plus, rather than the standard Marker. Its main practical advantage is a built-in eraser, which lets you erase without selecting an on-screen tool.

reMarkable’s marker information lists the standard Marker at 15 grams and the Marker Plus at 19 grams. The Marker Plus has a black finish, is slightly heavier, attaches magnetically to the tablet and does not require charging. The built-in eraser is exclusive to the Marker Plus, according to reMarkable’s official marker information.
Check the exact stylus before buying any replacement, retailer or refurbished bundle. A lower-priced listing may include the standard Marker, which does not provide the integrated eraser. Marker Plus is designed for reMarkable 2 and is not compatible with reMarkable 1; newer Paper Pro markers are not compatible with reMarkable 2.

There is no evidence in the supplied deal report that the offer continued after December 2, 2024. It should therefore be treated as a historical Black Friday promotion, not as a live discount in 2026. Black Friday 2026 has not yet occurred, so the 2024 offer cannot confirm what reMarkable may do in a future sale.
That distinction matters because “$89 off” may refer to an old manufacturer bundle price, a retailer’s listing or a refurbished product. Those are different offers with different conditions. Verify whether a listing is new, refurbished or clearance stock, and confirm the included Marker, folio material, keyboard language, warranty and return policy before paying.
reMarkable 2’s current status
As of the official store information dated August 18, 2026, reMarkable 2 has been discontinued and replaced by the reMarkable Paper Pure. The company says reMarkable 2 accessories remain available and that the tablet continues to receive software updates. Continued updates are encouraging, but they are not a promise of a particular future support period or accessory supply.

The official store’s current catalog also includes newer product families such as Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move. Buyers who want the newest hardware should compare those models with the Paper Pure rather than treating reMarkable 2 as the default current product. The right choice depends on whether you value monochrome simplicity, portability or features such as a color display; the supplied product information does not establish a full specification comparison.

For a buyer who specifically wants reMarkable 2, the manufacturer’s refurbished store may be more relevant than a closed 2024 promotion. Prices observed on the official refurbished page included:
- $399: refurbished reMarkable 2 with standard Marker and Book Folio, previously listed at $568.
- $449: a refurbished Book Folio configuration with Marker Plus, previously listed at $578.
- $549: refurbished reMarkable 2 with Marker Plus and Type Folio, previously listed at $648.
- $99: refurbished Type Folio accessory, previously listed at $199.
These were date-sensitive listings rather than guaranteed prices. Stock, color, region, language, keyboard layout and configuration can change. The official refurbished information says refurbished devices are inspected and tested and include a 50-day satisfaction guarantee and a one-year limited warranty, subject to the applicable terms. Confirm those terms on the product page before ordering.

Should you buy a reMarkable 2 now?
Reasons it can still make sense
- You specifically want a mature, handwriting-first digital notebook.
- You prefer a distraction-free device over a general-purpose tablet.
- A refurbished bundle materially lowers the cost of entry.
- You value the Marker Plus eraser and can find the exact accessory combination you want.
- You accept that the hardware is discontinued while official software updates continue.
Reasons to be cautious
- It is no longer the company’s current flagship hardware.
- Future accessory availability and long-term support are uncertainties created by its discontinued status.
- The Type Folio does not turn it into a laptop or general-purpose computer.
- Used, retailer and refurbished listings may differ in stylus, folio material, keyboard layout, condition, warranty and returns.
- An $89 saving does not automatically make an expensive specialized tablet good value for your needs.
A practical buying checklist
- Confirm the date. Do not treat the December 2, 2024 deadline as a current sale.
- Identify the condition. Make sure the listing clearly says new, refurbished, used or clearance.
- Check the contents. Confirm whether it includes Marker Plus or the standard Marker and whether a folio is included at all.
- Choose the folio by use case. Buy Book Folio for handwriting-first use; choose Type Folio only if you expect to type regularly.
- Check compatibility. Do not assume markers or accessories for reMarkable 1 or newer Paper Pro models will work with reMarkable 2.
- Review regional terms. Currency, taxes, stock, keyboard language, warranty and return policies can vary.
- Compare current models. Because reMarkable 2 has been discontinued, check Paper Pure, Paper Pro Move and Paper Pro before committing to older hardware.
The original promotion was a genuine $89 bundle discount, but it was a 2024 deal. In 2026, the sensible comparison is between a clearly labeled refurbished reMarkable 2 and the newer models now sold by reMarkable—not between today’s purchase and a headline that no longer describes a live offer.
