A November 29, 2024 report put the 128GB Pixel 9 at $299, but required a year of Mint service; the reported phone-and-service total was $479 before taxes and other applicable charges. That offer is not verified as available now.
What the $500-off Pixel 9 deal actually cost
The reported promotion reduced the phone’s listed price by $500, from $799 to $299. To qualify, buyers also had to purchase a year of Mint Mobile service. The deal report put that service at $180 and the combined price at $479. These are historical figures from a November 29, 2024 report, not confirmed current prices.
| Item | Reported amount |
|---|---|
| Pixel 9 reference price | $799 |
| Reported phone discount | −$500 |
| Promotional price for Pixel 9, 128GB | $299 |
| One year of Mint service | $180 |
| Reported phone-and-service total | $479 before taxes and other applicable charges |
Droid Life reported the promotion and its prices on November 29, 2024. Google’s current Pixel 9 specifications page lists a reference price from $799, but that does not establish Mint’s present price or inventory: Google Store Pixel 9 specifications.
So the meaningful comparison was not simply a $799 phone versus a $299 phone. It was a $479 bundle that included the handset and a year of prepaid service. If you would not otherwise buy that service, its full $180 price may not represent savings to you.

Why the offer was not a standalone $299 phone
The discount was tied to an annual Mint Mobile service purchase. The original report described the required service as a year of unlimited service, discounted to $180. It did not establish every checkout condition, such as activation timing, number-porting requirements, taxes, renewal price, return consequences, or phone unlocking terms. Nor does a 2024 report confirm that the same terms apply to any current offer.
Mint is a prepaid carrier that uses T-Mobile’s network, as described in the original deal coverage. Whether its service works well for you depends on coverage and performance where you use your phone; check the carrier’s current coverage information for your specific locations rather than assuming nationwide suitability.

Which Pixel 9 was included—and what you get
The reported $299 price was for the standard Pixel 9 with 128GB of storage. It should not be applied to the 256GB model, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, or Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google lists the standard Pixel 9 in 128GB and 256GB versions on its specifications page.
The standard Pixel 9 is a 2024-generation phone with Google’s Tensor G4 processor and 12GB of RAM. Its main specifications include:

- A physical nano-SIM slot and eSIM support for dual-SIM use.

Those specifications can help you judge whether the 128GB model meets your needs. Photo and video libraries, large games, and offline downloads can make 128GB restrictive; storage cannot be expanded with a memory card.
How much update support remains?
Google’s policy for Pixel 8 and later promises seven years of operating-system, security, and Pixel Drop updates, counted from when the model first became available on the Google Store in the United States—not from the date an individual customer buys it. The Pixel 9 launched with Android 14. See Google’s Pixel software update timelines.

Assess the offer by comparing your total cost with what you would actually spend on a phone and service—not just by subtracting $500 from a reference price. The historical bundle was more compelling if you wanted both the Pixel 9 and a year of Mint service than if you already had a cheaper plan or needed a different carrier.

- 128gb of storage
- Includes charging cord and box
- Excellent cosmetic condition
It may fit if you
- Want a Pixel 9 and are comfortable with the 128GB configuration.
- Need prepaid service for the coming year and are satisfied with Mint’s current plan terms and coverage in your area.
- Can pay for a year of service upfront and prefer the resulting combined cost to buying a phone and service separately.
- Are comfortable choosing a 2024 model rather than prioritizing the newest generation.
It is a poor fit if you
- Already have a lower-cost, family, or employer-subsidized plan and would not otherwise pay for Mint service.
- Need coverage or carrier features that Mint does not provide in your locations, or want to switch carriers freely without checking unlock and compatibility terms.
- Need 256GB or more storage, or want a newer phone.
- Prefer to buy an unlocked phone without an annual-service commitment or paying for service upfront.
- Would spend less than the required service price on a year of wireless service from an option that suits you better.
Compare the alternatives before committing
If the Mint promotion is unavailable, compare current, final checkout prices rather than treating the old $479 total as a live deal. A direct purchase from Google or another retailer may offer different pricing, trade-in terms, warranty support, or payment options; a sale on a newer Pixel or a Pixel A-series model may suit your budget better. Prices and offers change, so verify them at the seller before deciding.
The Pixel 9 Pro is a different choice, not simply another version of the same deal. Google’s product comparison shows the Pro with 16GB of RAM and a triple rear-camera system that adds a telephoto lens, compared with 12GB and a dual-camera system on the standard Pixel 9. The Pro may make sense if you value telephoto photography and higher-end hardware; the standard model is the less expensive configuration. Compare the models using Google’s Pixel 9 product page.
What to verify before buying a similar offer
Because the reported promotion dates from 2024 and its current availability and terms are not established, inspect the live offer and final checkout before paying. Confirm each of these items:
- Model and storage: Check that the listing is for a new Pixel 9 and states 128GB, rather than another configuration or condition.
- Phone price: Confirm the discount appears in the cart and whether it depends on buying service.
- Service total: Verify the plan, service period, upfront payment, taxes, fees, and any activation charges.
- Eligibility: Check whether the offer is limited to new customers, requires a number port, or imposes an activation deadline.
- Renewal: Read the annual plan’s renewal terms and price after the promotional period.
- Carrier flexibility: Confirm whether the phone is unlocked, when it can be used with another carrier, and which networks and bands it supports.
- Returns: Understand whether returning the phone affects the service purchase, refund, or promotional discount.
- Inventory and final total: Confirm the color and stock status, then compare the complete amount due with current unlocked-phone offers.
The 2024 report warned that inventory was limited: it said Wintergreen had sold out and Obsidian appeared likely to follow. That is a record of availability at the time, not evidence of present stock. Do not rely on an old deal page or search-result snippet to establish what is in stock now.
