A 2019 article quoted a Redfin estimate of $1,005,925 for the Oxley Street property, but that is a dated estimate, not a verified current value. Reubens’s separate Los Feliz home sold for a reported $3.8 million in 2024.
Which house sold for $15,500?
The figure refers to 1848 Oxley Street in South Pasadena, the filming location identified in a 2019 article by IAMNOTASTALKER. The article reports that the property sold on September 13, 1974, for $15,500. It describes the house as built in 1922, with two bedrooms, one bathroom, 1,298 square feet and a 0.15-acre lot.
The house is associated with the film, but the famous, elaborate Pee-wee house interior was a set. According to the location article, the real backyard appears briefly.
What does “skyrocketed” mean here?
The same 2019 article quoted a Redfin estimate of $1,005,925 for 1848 Oxley Street. That is an estimate reported in 2019, not a confirmed sale price or a current valuation. No current value for the South Pasadena property is established by the sources cited here.

It would be misleading to calculate the house’s appreciation by comparing its 1974 sale price with that 2019 estimate as if both were verified transactions. One is a reported historical sale; the other is a dated automated estimate. They do not establish what the property would sell for today.
Was the filming location Paul Reubens’s actual home?
No. Reporting identifies Reubens’s longtime home as a separate property at 5835 Green Oak Drive in Los Feliz. He reportedly bought that residence in 1985 for $415,000, and it sold in 2024 for $3.8 million, according to Laredo Morning Times reporting republished from Realtor.com. SFGATE’s 2024 coverage also reports the 1985 purchase price.

The Los Feliz home was described in 2024 as a 1957 midcentury residence on about 1.4 acres. Those details—and its reported sale price—belong to Reubens’s residence, not to the South Pasadena film location. Listing agent Juliette Hohnen called the Los Feliz residence “a piece of Hollywood history,” as quoted in the Realtor.com reporting republished by the Laredo Morning Times.
How to keep the prices straight
| Property and figure | What the number represents |
|---|---|
| 1848 Oxley Street, South Pasadena: $15,500 | Reported sale on September 13, 1974; IAMNOTASTALKER, 2019. |
| 1848 Oxley Street, South Pasadena: $1,005,925 | Redfin estimate quoted by IAMNOTASTALKER in 2019; not a verified current value. |
| 5835 Green Oak Drive, Los Feliz: $415,000 | Reported price Reubens paid for his separate home in 1985; cited in 2024 real-estate reporting. |
| 5835 Green Oak Drive, Los Feliz: $3.8 million | Reported sale price of Reubens’s separate home in 2024. |
These figures describe two different properties and different kinds of price evidence. The 2024 Los Feliz sale cannot establish how much the South Pasadena filming location appreciated.
