Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse “Falcon 2” is the highest-priced individual skateboard sale verified here: Julien’s Auctions reports that it sold for $1,152,000 in September 2025. The evidence supports a short list of notable board sales—not a reliable ranking of ten individual skateboards. A 248-deck Supreme archive brought $800,000, but that was one collection lot, not a single-board sale.
Why there is no defensible top ten
A ranked list needs comparable, documented sales of individual boards. The available auction records establish several notable individual-board results, but not ten. Filling the gaps with asking prices, auction estimates, grouped collections, or non-board memorabilia would make the ranking misleading.
The results below are confirmed examples, not a comprehensive market ranking. They are reported in U.S. dollars by Julien’s Auctions; the cited auction pages do not state whether the figures include a buyer’s premium.
Verified individual skateboard sales
| Board | Reported sale price | Documented significance |
|---|---|---|
| Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse “Falcon 2” | $1,152,000 | Hawk rode it to land the first-ever 900 at the 1999 X Games. Julien’s also says he used it with Andy Macdonald to win Vert Doubles that weekend. The board sold in September 2025; its presale estimate was $500,000–$700,000. Julien’s Auctions’ sale report |
| Tony Hawk’s 1982 Powell-Peralta Signature Pro Model | $57,600 | Described by Julien’s as the first pro-model board Hawk rode. Sold at the same 2025 auction. Julien’s Auctions’ sale report |
| 1982 Powell-Peralta board with stained wood finish | $51,200 | A different board from the same 2025 auction. Julien’s Auctions’ sale report |
| Birdhouse “Tony Hawk” deck | $38,400 | Hawk rode it in the 1999 X Games Vert Singles competition; it sold at the same 2025 auction. Julien’s Auctions’ sale report |
How much did Tony Hawk’s 900 skateboard sell for?
The Falcon 2 sold for $1,152,000 at Julien’s Auctions in September 2025. The auction house’s presale estimate was $500,000–$700,000, which is an estimate—not the realized sale price. The Associated Press reported the result as $1.15 million and relayed the auctioneer’s description of it as the largest price tag for skateboard memorabilia at that time. Because that record description is time-sensitive and concerns memorabilia broadly, it should not be treated as a permanent ranking of skateboard sales. Julien’s Auctions’ exact result

The price has a clear provenance story: the board is tied to Hawk’s first-ever 900 at the 1999 X Games, as well as the Vert Doubles victory Julien’s describes. The available records establish that connection; they do not provide a general formula for valuing other boards.
A major collection sale is not a single-board price
In January 2019, Sotheby’s reported that a complete archive of 248 Supreme decks spanning 1998–2018 sold for $800,000. That was the total for the collection sold together, not the sale price of one deck. Dividing the total by 248 would produce only a mathematical average; it would not establish the value of any individual board in the archive. Sotheby’s archive sale

The archive’s appeal reflected the collection as a whole: its completeness, rarity, condition, brand history, artist collaborations, and accumulation over many years. Sotheby’s documents collaborations with artists including Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, George Condo, Marilyn Minter, and Damien Hirst. Those factors provide collecting context, not a universal appraisal rule. Sotheby’s account of Supreme’s collaborations
A separate Sotheby’s offering covered 216 Supreme decks from 2005–2021. Its accessible catalog page does not state a realized sale price, so it cannot supply another comparable result. Sotheby’s 2021 catalog

What these prices do—and do not—tell a buyer
- Use realized prices, not estimates or asking prices. The Falcon 2’s $1,152,000 result is distinct from its $500,000–$700,000 presale estimate.
- Keep single objects separate from group lots. The Supreme archive’s $800,000 total cannot be assigned to one deck or used as a direct individual-board comparison.
- Look for provenance and authentication. A board’s documented connection to a rider or event can distinguish it from a visually similar deck. The source descriptions establish the Falcon 2’s competition history, but do not provide a general authentication checklist.
- Consider condition, scarcity, and collaboration in context. The auction records show these as relevant collecting context, but do not establish a formula that predicts a board’s sale price.
These public results show why a skateboard’s value cannot be inferred from a headline price alone: the object, its history, and whether it sold alone or as part of a collection all matter. They do not establish ten comparable individual-board sales or a broader market valuation method.
