But it is not a verified global price ranking: the page, dated August 10, 2023, gives no consistent price measure, data source, or reproducible method. Its numbering also skips number four. Treat it as an editorial list of luxury houses, not proof that one brand is objectively the most expensive.
What does “most expensive jewelry brand” mean?
There is no single price that can rank an entire jewelry house. A brand may sell everyday fine jewelry, high-jewelry creations, bespoke commissions, and one-of-a-kind pieces set with rare stones. Auction prices for historic jewels add another category altogether. As BriteCo explains, luxury brands’ offerings and prices vary, and high jewelry is distinct from more accessible fine jewelry (BriteCo’s overview of expensive jewelry brands).
A ranking could change depending on whether it compares the least expensive item currently sold, a house’s most expensive available piece, a bespoke commission, a record auction result, or the overall value of a company. FashionLady does not say which of these it uses. Its ordering therefore cannot answer all of those questions or establish a current, apples-to-apples price comparison.
Which brands appear on FashionLady’s list?
The article places Harry Winston first, then Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co. Its later entries include Graff, Piaget, Bvlgari, Mikimoto, and Chopard. Because the page skips the displayed number four, it is safer to treat these as brands included in the list rather than assign a corrected rank to every name. The list’s title refers to 2021, but the page itself is dated August 10, 2023 (FashionLady’s list).

How to compare the jewelry houses
Rather than treating an unsupported order as a price verdict, compare brands on the features that shape the jewelry and its price. These dimensions can help explain why two pieces—or two houses—are not directly comparable:
- Heritage and house identity: A long history or recognizable identity helps explain a brand’s place in luxury jewelry, but does not by itself establish that its pieces cost more.
- Design language: Look at recurring motifs, forms, and collections. FashionLady associates Cartier with panther and Art Deco motifs; that is the article’s characterization, not a current official brand statement.
- Gemstones and materials: The rarity, quality, size, and provenance of a stone can make an individual jewel exceptionally costly. FashionLady highlights Graff for large diamonds and Bvlgari for colored gemstones, but those descriptions do not establish a comparable brand-wide price.
- Craftsmanship and technique: Construction and setting contribute to a piece’s character and cost. Tiffany says its high-jewelry creations are “handcrafted by artisans at high jewelry workshops.” That is the company’s own description, not an independent comparison of workmanship (Tiffany & Co. High Jewelry).
- Type of price: Check whether a figure refers to current retail, a bespoke commission, or an auction result, and whether it applies to one item or a broader collection. A single record sale cannot establish a house-wide ranking.
What the list suggests about individual houses
Harry Winston
Harry Winston is FashionLady’s number-one entry. The article also connects the house with the Hope Diamond and says Winston donated the stone to the Smithsonian in 1958. That history is reported by FashionLady; the list does not provide a Smithsonian source for the claim. It should not be treated as evidence of the house’s current prices or as the basis for a global ranking.
Rank #2
- Length (minimum - maximum): 14 7/8 - 17 7/8 inch; Width: 7/8 inch
- Shining a light on love, this Swarovski necklace is romantic as well as radiant
- The rhodium finish design features a full circle of heart-shaped crystals, each surrounded by a glittering halo of clear pavé
- Pair this necklace with other matching jewelry to create your own expressive combinations
Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels
Cartier appears second on FashionLady’s list, with the article pointing to panther and Art Deco motifs. Van Cleef & Arpels follows. The Maison’s official history dates its origins to 1906 and names Snowflake, Palmyre, À Cheval, and Olympia among its historic high-jewelry collections (Van Cleef & Arpels, The Maison). That history and collection continuity illustrate the house’s identity; they do not establish a price advantage.
Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany is another of the first four brands named by FashionLady. Its official high-jewelry page describes artisan production, but that statement is the brand’s own account and does not show how Tiffany’s prices compare with competitors.

Other names on the list
FashionLady also includes Graff, Piaget, Bvlgari, Mikimoto, and Chopard. Its descriptions associate them, respectively, with large diamonds, colored gemstones, pearl heritage, and jewelry alongside watchmaking. These are prompts for understanding how the houses differ, not evidence of a shared pricing method or an objectively ordered list.

- Easy to wear: The elegance and simple versatility of this piece makes for a fashionable addition to any outfit; a glamorous accessory for more formal occasions or a charming gift for your loved one
- Compare like with like. Set a retail piece beside another current retail piece, or compare auction results for similar items. Do not mix a bespoke jewel with a catalog item and call the result a brand ranking.
- Check the date and market. Prices and availability can change, and a price for one region or sales channel may not apply elsewhere. The FashionLady page is dated August 10, 2023, despite its title referring to 2021.
- Look beyond the brand name. For an individual jewel, the design, materials, gemstone characteristics, workmanship, and documentation matter alongside the maker.
- For a valuable purchase, seek item-specific advice. A qualified appraisal can help document a piece’s value for financial or insurance purposes. BriteCo discusses jewelry appraisals and coverage in its consumer overview, but readers should verify the terms and suitability of any service directly (BriteCo’s overview).
