There is no verified worldwide winner in the available 2023 price evidence. The strongest documented examples include a HKD 928 dinner buffet at Regent Hong Kong, Seoul hotel dinner buffets reported at KRW 180,000–185,000, and Sunday brunch options at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel reported at S$168–S$228. These are not directly comparable: meal, day, service charge, package and serving format all affect the final bill.
Why there is no definitive “most expensive” buffet
A fair ranking needs to compare like with like. A standalone dinner ticket is not the same thing as a brunch package, and neither is equivalent to a hotel’s nightly room rate when breakfast is included at no extra charge. Published menu prices can also exclude service charges or vary by weekday, holiday and beverage package.
The figures below are documented prices from 2023, kept in their original currencies. They identify expensive examples, not a global ranking; no consistent exchange-rate basis or worldwide venue census establishes a record-holder.

How to interpret the prices
Service charges change the amount due
For the Regent and Cafe TOO prices, adding the stated 10% service charge gives an indicative total of HKD 1,020.80 and HKD 932.80 respectively for the listed HKD 928 and HKD 848 rates, before any other applicable charges. Cafe TOO’s HKD 798 rate becomes HKD 877.80 with that service charge. These calculations apply only to the listed prices and periods; confirm the final amount with the restaurant.

Meal period and day matter
Hong Kong’s cited menus distinguish dinner on weekends or holidays from weekday dinner and brunch. Seoul’s cited figures apply to dinner, with Le Seine’s price specifically for weekends and holidays. The Singapore figure is for Sunday brunch. Treating all of them as one interchangeable “buffet price” would obscure the conditions that drive the bill.
Room bundles are a different comparison
Some rankings count a hotel’s full room price as the cost of a breakfast buffet even when breakfast is bundled into the stay. That measures the accommodation purchase, not a standalone buffet ticket. The distinction is illustrated in Expensive Inc.’s roundup; its room-rate approach cannot establish which buffet has the highest admission price.

What a buffet price does—and does not—tell you
A high ticket price does not by itself establish better value: the cited sources do not provide a common measure of food quality, portion value or guest satisfaction. Format matters too. A self-service buffet gives diners access to displayed dishes, while Osteria BBR’s reported table-served unlimited ordering changes how guests choose and receive food.
For current venue context, Atlantis, The Palm describes Saffron as its largest buffet, with more than 220 dishes and 20 live cooking stations; this is current venue description, not evidence of a 2023 price or world record. Atlantis Saffron and Caravelle Saigon’s dining page show that offers and prices are venue- and meal-specific. Check the restaurant’s current listing before booking; 2023 rates should not be assumed to remain available.

So, which buffet was the most expensive?
The documented evidence supports naming Regent Hong Kong’s May 2023 HKD 928 weekend/public-holiday dinner as a high published standalone buffet price, but it does not prove that it was the most expensive in the world. The Seoul and Singapore examples are also substantial, yet differ in currency, date, meal and pricing conditions. The defensible answer is a set of notable documented examples, not a verified global champion.
