Its legal status also depends on where you live: the Illinois Gaming Board said the operator was not licensed or authorized for online gambling in Illinois and demanded that it block Illinois residents or stop offering prizes. That Illinois action is not a nationwide ruling. The operator’s sweepstakes language and terms do not establish that the service was legal everywhere, that redemptions were reliable, or that it passed an independent safety audit.
Is The Money Factory still operating?
Casino.org’s August 2026 review reported that The Money Factory ceased operations in early August 2026 and was no longer available to new or existing players. The report described a service that had launched in 2024; it is a dated third-party account, not confirmation of any later official notice.
That same review reported a historical catalogue of more than 3,700 games from over 20 providers. Those figures describe the former service, not a current game library or an available offer. There is no basis here for treating old promotions as current signup or bonus recommendations.
Was The Money Factory legal?
What Illinois’ regulator said
In a February 4, 2026 letter, Illinois Gaming Board Administrator Marcus D. Fruchter wrote: “The IGB has neither licensed nor authorized The Money Factory to engage in online gambling activity.” The letter said the regulator observed the site offering Illinois users internet and mobile slots and table games with opportunities to win cash, gift cards, and other prizes. It demanded that the operator block Illinois residents or discontinue offering those prizes. Read the Illinois Gaming Board letter.

This is a direct, Illinois-specific position. It does not establish the operator’s legal status in every other state or country, and it should not be presented as a nationwide court ruling. The operator’s own terms put responsibility on users to check whether online social casino or sweepstakes play is lawful where they live, set an age minimum of 18 or the higher local age, and allow location-based access restrictions. See the operator’s terms.
Why “sweepstakes” does not settle the question
The operator described a two-currency model: Gold Coins for standard play and Sweeps Coins for promotional play, with Sweeps Coins potentially redeemable for prizes. That is the operator’s explanation of its product, not an independent legal determination. Calling a service a sweepstakes or social casino does not by itself prove that it is lawful in a particular jurisdiction or equivalent to a locally licensed casino. See the operator FAQ.

- Poker chip set housed in a silver aluminum case
Are Sweep Coins real money?
No: Sweeps Coins are not cash simply because the operator says they may be used to seek redeemable prizes. The operator distinguished Gold Coins, used for standard play, from promotional Sweeps Coins. Its terms said some bonus Sweeps Coins could require at least 1x playthrough before becoming eligible for redemption, while offer restrictions and expiration could vary. These are historical terms and do not establish a universal condition for every promotion or guarantee that a prize would be paid. See the currency and promotion terms.
Was The Money Factory safe to use?
The available terms disclose powers and limitations, not verified performance. The operator reserved the ability to request identity documents, review balances and redemption requests, and limit or suspend accounts. It also said the service was provided “as is” and “as available.” Read the account and service terms.

Those provisions do not demonstrate that the operator handled every account safely, paid every valid redemption, maintained uninterrupted service, or received independent security testing. Nor do they establish protections equivalent to those of a locally licensed casino. No independent security certification or payout testing is established here, so a definitive safety endorsement would be unsupported.
What should former players do about balances or pending redemptions?
The present status of former players’ balances, pending redemption requests, and access to support is not established by the available information. Do not assume a balance was paid, forfeited, or remains redeemable. Preserve account records, transaction receipts, redemption confirmations, and any support correspondence. If seeking clarification, use only a support channel you can independently verify as belonging to the operator; do not send identity or payment details to an unverified contact.
