The Mobile Shop promotion, reported by MobileSyrup on December 19, 2024, offered up to 250,000 PC Optimum points on select phone activations. Rogers offers ended December 31, 2024, while the reported Bell, Virgin Plus and Fido Galaxy S24 offer ran to January 1, 2025. The points were a reward, not an immediate $250 reduction in the phone price or a cash rebate.
Which phones had the biggest bonuses?
MobileSyrup reported the following maximum bonuses. “Up to” matters: the qualifying carrier, plan, activation type, storage tier and inventory could affect the amount.
| Phone | Maximum points | Approximate regular rewards value* | Reported availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple iPhone 15 | 250,000 | $250 | Select activation; carrier and plan restrictions applied |
| Google Pixel 9 | 200,000 | $200 | Select activation; carrier and plan restrictions applied |
| Samsung Galaxy S24 | 200,000 | $200 | Rogers from December 17, 2024; Bell, Virgin Plus and Fido reported from December 19 |
| Samsung Galaxy S24 FE | 200,000 | $200 | Reported as a Rogers-exclusive offer |
| Apple iPhone 16 | 100,000 | $100 | Select activation |
| Google Pixel 8a | 100,000 | $100 | Select activation |
*PC Optimum commonly values 10,000 points at about $10 in rewards value, subject to program rules; points are not cash. See the redemption guidance at The Mobile Shop.
The iPhone 15 had the largest advertised reward. The S24, S24 FE and Pixel 9 followed at up to 200,000 points, while the iPhone 16 and Pixel 8a were listed at up to 100,000.

What the promotion actually covered
The 2024 report described the bonuses as tied to wireless activations. It did not establish that an unlocked phone bought outright automatically qualified. A new activation and an upgrade could have different eligibility rules, and the complete device-by-carrier-by-plan matrix was not published.
The specifically reported carrier details were:
- Rogers: Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 FE; the S24 promotion was reported as beginning December 17 and ending December 31, 2024.
- Bell, Virgin Plus and Fido: Galaxy S24 offer reported as available December 19, 2024, through January 1, 2025.
- Other listed phones: carrier and plan qualification depended on the particular activation; the archived report did not provide a full matrix.
The article was updated December 20, 2024 and removed an offer that had appeared before it was available. That change is another reason not to treat a headline amount as universal.

- Carrier: This phone is locked to Tracfone, which means this device can only be used on the Tracfone wireless network. Tracfone plan required, activating is easy, just 3 steps.
- DISPLAY: Immersive viewing on a 6.7-inch super-bright 120Hz display with powerful stereo speakers and Bass Boost for cinematic entertainment.
- CAMERA SYSTEM: Advanced 50MP Quad Pixel camera captures sharp, detailed photos and videos in any lighting condition
- PERFORMANCE: Lightning-fast 5G connectivity paired with a powerful processor and RAM Boost for smooth multitasking.
- BATTERY LIFE: Long-lasting 5000mAh battery with TurboPower charging technology delivers hours of power in minutes.
Points versus a phone-price discount
At the program’s usual redemption rate, the advertised amounts translate approximately as follows:
| Points | Approximate rewards value |
|---|---|
| 250,000 | $250 |
| 200,000 | $200 |
| 100,000 | $100 |
That value depends on having places to spend PC Optimum points and complying with redemption limits. It is not money paid back to your bank account, and it does not automatically reduce the carrier’s monthly rate-plan bill.

Current Mobile Shop guidance says eligible points can be applied to device purchases or financing, including during an activation or upgrade when the carrier and offer allow it. The current page says redemption is toward the device cost rather than the monthly wireless plan. Those current rules should not be read as definitive proof of every 2024 promotion condition.

Total effective cost = device payments or purchase price + required plan cost + fees − usable PC Optimum value − trade-in value.
Check the 24-month plan total
A plan that costs $20 more per month than an alternative costs $480 more over 24 months, which can overwhelm a $200 points bonus. Financing, connection, setup and device-handling charges also belong in the calculation. Current Mobile Shop disclosures say taxes are extra and fees may apply.

Read any device-return obligation
Some Boxing Week carrier offers advertised very low monthly prices only when the customer returned the phone in acceptable condition or paid a deferred amount at the end of the term. A points bonus does not remove that obligation.
Value the points realistically
The full approximate value is most useful to households that already shop at participating Loblaw-owned grocery or pharmacy banners. If you rarely use PC Optimum, discount the points in your comparison rather than treating them as cash.
Account for trade-ins and upgrades
The Mobile Shop’s current trade-in program pays in PC Optimum points, not cash. It allows one trade-in per activation or upgrade, generally accepts it up to 15 days after activation, and makes the value final once accepted. Condition and eligibility determine the amount.

MobileSyrup’s broader December 2024 carrier roundup provides useful period context, but those offers were also temporary and conditional. Examples included:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Galaxy S24 and Pixel 9 financing advertised as low as $0 per month with device-return arrangements at some carriers.
- iPhone 16 financing around $12 to $16 per month, depending on carrier and arrangement.
- iPhone 15 financing as low as $10 per month in some offers.
These figures could require premium plans, trade-ins, credit approval or returning the device. Compare the required plan and end-of-term payment with the Mobile Shop activation before assigning value to the points.
Who the promotion suited—and who should have skipped it
Potentially good fit
- You needed one of the listed phones and would have chosen the qualifying carrier anyway.
- Your household regularly redeems PC Optimum points at participating retailers.
- The phone and plan remained competitive after adding 24-month costs and fees.
- The store could confirm the maximum points for your exact activation and storage tier.
Potentially poor fit
- You switched carriers solely to obtain points.
- A cheaper plan erased the bonus over the contract term.
- The offer required an expensive return, upgrade or premium-plan arrangement.
- You needed cash savings or rarely use PC Optimum.
- The advertised phone was unavailable at your local store.
Before signing: store checklist
- Ask whether the transaction is a new activation or an upgrade and which exact carrier and plan qualify.
- Confirm the maximum points for the phone’s storage tier and financing method.
- Get the 24-month device total, monthly plan cost, taxes and every setup or connection fee in writing.
- Ask whether a device return is required, the month-24 return amount and the condition standard.
- Confirm whether points from this transaction can be redeemed immediately and what portion can be applied to the device.
- Ask what happens to the points if the activation is cancelled, returned or changed.
- If trading in a phone, document its condition and the final points value before accepting.
- Verify the promotion is still active at that store; Mobile Shop availability and promotions vary by location and can change.
What is available now?
As of August 18, 2026, the Boxing Week 2024 promotion is historical. The current Mobile Shop site shows different device and plan offers and says points vary by device and plan, availability varies by store, and promotions are subject to change. Do not assume current listings for newer phones carry the 2024 amounts. Check the current Mobile Shop offers directly before making a purchase.
