Martin Garrix’s rise began with a club track, not a public plan to become wealthy. “Animals,” released in June 2013, reached number one in the UK and helped turn a young Dutch producer into a festival headliner. His career then expanded through label and management support, touring, collaborations, and other business activity. Those milestones explain the “millions” framing—but the sources available do not establish a verified figure for his personal net worth.
How Martin Garrix became famous
Garrix had been producing music for years before “Animals” broke through. In a 2014 profile, Forbes reported that he had played early gigs at weddings and birthday parties, won DJ competitions in the Netherlands, and signed with Spinnin’ Records in 2012. That label gave him a platform to release music, including the track that changed his career. Forbes, 18 August 2014

“Animals” was released on 17 June 2013, according to Garrix’s official music page. It became his defining early breakthrough: the Official Charts Company reported that it debuted at number one on the UK Official Singles Chart and sold nearly 106,000 copies in its first UK chart week. How “Animals” became a hit
Garrix described the song as a club record rather than a calculated bid for a chart hit. In his interview with OfficialCharts.com, he said, “I didn’t expect this success at all!” and explained that the track’s UK number one was beyond his expectations. Official Charts Company

In a 2014 TIME interview, Garrix said he reopened an older project and developed the drop with hip-hop inspiration. He wanted to bring “something weird, something unique into the track,” he said. His original goal was to play it in his own sets, at festivals, and in clubs. Radio play then carried the instrumental beyond that setting—an unexpected expansion of its audience. TIME, 20 April 2014
Garrix’s official page says “Animals” spent four consecutive weeks at number one on Beatport and had more than 700 million YouTube hits. Those are retrospective claims on the artist’s own site, not current chart positions or a live view-count snapshot. Martin Garrix official site
Why the breakthrough translated into a fast career ascent
A hit alone does not explain how quickly Garrix moved from aspiring producer to international festival performer. Forbes reported that a representative connected to Scooter Braun’s SB Projects heard an early demo after meeting Garrix while scouting at Ultra in 2013. Forbes said a co-management arrangement involving SB Projects and a Spinnin’ Records arm followed that year. The account also quoted Braun: “We didn’t want to come in as big shots. The truth was, I was a rookie in EDM.” Forbes, 18 August 2014
The live schedule grew quickly. Forbes reported, citing Songkick data, that Garrix played more than 40 shows in the 12 months after 1 June 2013. The same profile noted appearances at Ultra, Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, and Tomorrowland in 2014. That count indicates work and exposure; it is not a measure of earnings. Forbes, 18 August 2014
“Fastest-rising” was Forbes’ description in a 2014 headline and should be read as period framing, not as a permanent ranking or independently measured title. The evidence for the pace of the ascent is more concrete: a chart-topping single, a rapid increase in live bookings, and professional support around releases and management.

Garrix’s later career broadened into collaborations, a record label, and studio work. Insomniac’s retrospective artist profile describes collaborations across pop and electronic music, his STMPD RCRDS label and Amsterdam studio complex, and his 2022 club album Sentio. It also reports partnerships with Replay, JBL, and Heineken. These details show the range of activity associated with his career; the profile is not an audited account of the financial terms or value of those relationships. Insomniac artist profile
Did Martin Garrix make millions?
His chart success, touring, label activity, collaborations, and reported partnerships point to a substantial professional career. But none of the sources cited here verifies a current personal net-worth total. A song’s sales, a touring count, audience figures, or the existence of a brand relationship cannot establish how much money an artist personally owns after expenses, taxes, contracts, and other obligations.
So the defensible answer is that Garrix built a high-profile international career with several potential revenue channels—not that a specific “millions” figure has been proven. No audited or otherwise attributable current personal-wealth estimate is established by these sources.
