There is no reliable, apples-to-apples ranking of the 15 largest celebrity child-support payments. Public reports mix court orders, private settlements, temporary awards, expense claims and combined child and spousal support—and some agreements are confidential. The figures below are notable high-dollar arrangements reported publicly, with their dates and limits made clear.
Why these figures are not a definitive top 15
A monthly amount can mean very different things: a final child-support order, a negotiated settlement, a temporary award, a request made in court, or a parent’s estimate of expenses. Some reported totals include alimony or direct costs such as schooling and security. Those distinctions matter more than a simple highest-to-lowest list.
Celebrity support is also specific to the family, jurisdiction and financial evidence in a case. Offit Kurman’s 2022 discussion explains that state approaches and high-income calculations vary. In a 2024 discussion of Kevin Costner’s case, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) quotes family-law attorney Natalia Wilson: “The court looks to what’s necessary for the child’s well-being, such as education, housing, how to meet their basic essentials and tries to draw a line that supports but doesn’t spoil the child.”
Notable publicly reported amounts
These examples are organized by what the reported figure represents, not ranked as a definitive top 15. The public information summarized here does not support 15 comparable, independently verified payments. Historical figures may have changed or ended; they should not be read as current obligations.

Reported settlement or agreement
- Kanye West and Kim Kardashian — $200,000 a month (2022): Their negotiated settlement was reported to set this amount for their four children. Reporting also described shared expenses. This was a settlement figure, not a universal court formula or proof of a record. See The Guardian’s November 2022 report and Offit Kurman’s legal discussion.
- Britney Spears and Kevin Federline — $20,000 a month (2008): CBS News reported this as the amount in their settlement. Other later accounts cite different figures, so this dated report should not be treated as a current amount. CBS News’ 2012 historical gallery.
- Russell Simmons — $40,000 a month (reported in 2009): He reportedly agreed to pay child support for his daughters, with payments continuing until both were 19½. This is a historical reported agreement, not a verified current order. CBS News’ 2012 historical gallery.
Amounts discussed in court proceedings
- Kevin Costner — about $63,000 a month: The AAML’s 2024 professional discussion covers this figure after court proceedings. It is distinct from larger requested and temporary amounts reported during the case; it should not be confused with those figures. AAML, 2024.
- Nas — more than $51,000 a month (reported in 2009): CBS News, in an Associated Press retrospective, reported that he was ordered to pay his former wife, singer Kelis, and their son. Other coverage combines spousal and child support, so this is not a clean child-only comparison. CBS News’ 2012 historical gallery.
- Martin Brodeur — $132,000 a year in child support (reported in 2009): The same account separately reported $500,000 a year in alimony. The alimony figure is not child support and should not be added to the child-support amount as though it were one payment. CBS News’ 2012 historical gallery.
Reported expenses, not a disclosed payment
- Linda Evangelista — $46,000 a month in claimed expenses: Evangelista said in court papers that she spent this amount on her son’s expenses, including a 24-hour nanny and bodyguards. Her settlement with François-Henri Pinault was confidential; the $46,000 was not a publicly disclosed support payment. CBS News’ 2012 account.
How to read celebrity child-support headlines
- Check the legal status: An amount someone requested, a temporary ruling and a final order are not interchangeable with a private settlement.
- Check what the amount covers: Look for the number of children, whether the figure combines child and spousal support, and whether tuition, health care, security or other direct expenses are separate.
- Check the date: A report from 2008 or 2009 establishes what was reported then, not what someone pays today. Orders and agreements can be modified or end.
- Do not infer a confidential payment: A parent’s reported expenses do not establish the amount another parent was ordered or agreed to pay.
Celebrity roundups sometimes list other names, including Kelly Clarkson, Charlie Sheen, Eddie Murphy and Sean Combs. The figures vary across sources and may refer to different periods or include costs beyond child support. Without a dated, comparable basis, adding them to a ranked list would suggest more certainty than the public information supports.
