The McGregor and Diaz figures also show why a purse list is not a ranking of bout winners: both fighters received reported disclosed purses for the same event, with different amounts.
Why this is not a defensible top 10
A ranked list needs ten individually attributable figures measured on a consistent basis. The available records establish a leading disclosed-purse figure and two useful comparisons, but do not establish ten comparable payouts. Filling the remaining places with estimates or figures drawn from different compensation categories would create a ranking that looks precise without having a consistent basis.

The UFC’s official Record Book covers UFC competition records from UFC 28 onward, such as fight statistics; it is not a historical fighter-pay database. A list assembled from that record book cannot verify the requested payouts.
What “payout” includes—and what a disclosed purse may miss
Disclosed purse
A disclosed or commission-reported purse is a reported payment figure, not automatically the fighter’s full compensation for a bout. UFC 202 reporting distinguishes the disclosed purses from sponsor money and traditional fight-night bonuses. The reported purse figures above should not be treated as verified net income or career earnings.

Broader bout compensation
Reporting on unsealed UFC antitrust litigation materials describes “Internal Zuffa Bout Compensation” as including disclosed and undisclosed payments, including pay-per-view bonuses, side letters, and discretionary bonuses. A ranking based on that broader measure can differ from a ranking of disclosed purses. The two categories should not be mixed as if they measured the same thing.

To rank ten fighters fairly, each entry would need a clearly identified bout and a source for the amount, with the same compensation rule applied throughout. A useful record would specify:

- Fighter, opponent, event, and bout date.
- Amount and currency, along with the source and its publication date.
- Whether the number is a disclosed purse or broader bout compensation.
- Which components are included, such as show and win pay, bonuses, pay-per-view terms, or side agreements.
- How confidently the payment is attributed to that fighter and bout.
Without those comparable records for every entry, an ordered top ten would imply a level of verification that the available figures do not provide.
