What sold, and who bought it?

Chevrolet said 100 percent of the $3.7 million hammer price benefited the American Red Cross, including support for relief efforts related to hurricanes Helene and Milton and broader disaster assistance. That charitable purpose is central to understanding the price: it reflects a high-profile fundraising auction for a first-production example, not what buyers generally pay for a ZR1.
How does $3.7 million compare with the ZR1’s starting price?
Chevrolet’s January 2025 pricing announcement listed the following starting MSRPs, including destination freight charge:

Those manufacturer starting prices exclude tax, title, license, dealer fees and options. They are useful retail context, but they are not directly comparable to the $3.7 million charity-auction hammer price. Chevrolet described the VIN 001 result as tying the record for a charitable vehicle sale at Barrett-Jackson, which it said had been set in 2022 by the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition. What makes the 2025 ZR1 notable?
Chevrolet describes the ZR1 as using a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged LT7 V8. Its published output is 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, with figures determined under SAE guidelines. Chevrolet also cites a 233 mph track top speed and a 0–60 mph time of 2.3 seconds on a closed course.
