In the United States, Porsche says its Approved Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty lasts two years with unlimited miles and begins when the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires by time or mileage, whichever comes first. That means the start date is not automatically the day you buy the used car. To know how much coverage a particular Porsche has, check its warranty certificate and vehicle-specific history.
How long is the Porsche CPO warranty?
Porsche USA describes the Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty as two years with unlimited miles. The two-year term is a time limit; unlimited miles does not mean unlimited duration or that every repair is covered. Porsche USA’s warranty summary states the headline term and when it starts.
These are U.S. program terms. Porsche’s published warranty terms vary by market; for example, Porsche Australia sets out distinct eligibility, coverage and exclusion terms. Use the warranty documents for the country where the car is covered.
When does coverage start?
Porsche says the CPO warranty commences when the New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires by months or miles, whichever comes first. Its U.S. summary describes the New Vehicle Warranty as four years or 50,000 miles. The warranty period begins with the vehicle’s first retail delivery or first demonstrator, lease or company use, whichever comes first.

Because the factory-warranty clock is tied to first use and mileage, model year alone cannot tell you the CPO start or end date. Ask the Porsche Center for the vehicle’s original in-service date, factory-warranty expiration and CPO warranty dates, and check them against the certificate and purchase documents.
What does Porsche Approved certification mean?
Certification and warranty coverage are related but distinct. Porsche’s Porsche Approved program describes its vehicles as meeting Porsche quality standards and includes a multipoint inspection. The inspection information refers to mechanical and cosmetic criteria such as exterior and body condition, fluid levels and vehicle documentation.
An inspection is not a promise that every component, wear item or future failure is covered. Porsche’s public U.S. summary does not provide a complete list of covered parts, exclusions, claim requirements or vehicle-specific limitations. For a particular repair, rely on the applicable warranty certificate or booklet; ask an authorized Porsche Center to confirm uncertain coverage in writing. A dealer’s broad component-category description can help orient you, but it does not replace the contract.
Is Vehicle Service Protection the same as the CPO warranty?
No. Porsche Vehicle Service Protection (VSP) is a separate optional product, not another name for the included CPO Limited Warranty. Porsche’s VSP information and brochure describe different plans for new or CPO vehicles and used vehicles, with eligibility and terms depending on vehicle status. The agreement governs; the brochure warns that coverage may vary by state and not all models are eligible.

The brochure lists exclusions that include breakdowns covered by a manufacturer warranty, accident-related breakdowns, pre-existing conditions or lack of maintenance, and electric or hybrid batteries and cables. If you are offered VSP, compare the actual agreement with the CPO warranty rather than assuming it extends every CPO benefit.

- Contract terms: the warranty certificate or booklet, including covered components, exclusions, claim process and any limitations that apply to that vehicle.
- Optional protection: if VSP is offered, its plan, price, deductible, waiting period, term, exclusions and state-specific agreement.
- Applicable market: the local Porsche program and contract, rather than assumptions based on U.S. terms.
For an exact date or a proposed repair, the vehicle’s documents and written confirmation from an authorized Porsche Center are more useful than a general summary page.
