Donald Trump’s most recent dated net-worth estimate in the available public reporting is $7 billion, according to Forbes’ September 2026 tally. That is an estimate, not an audited or uniquely definitive valuation: it depends on dated market prices and assumptions about private businesses, property, ownership stakes, and liabilities.
How Forbes estimates Trump’s $7 billion fortune
Forbes’ September 21, 2026, estimate puts Trump’s fortune at $7 billion, which it says is $2.7 billion higher than when he won the 2024 election. Forbes also says the estimate fell by $300 million during 2026 through its September tally. Those are changes in Forbes’ estimated net worth, not cash gains or losses established by an audit. Forbes’ September 2026 breakdown presents rounded category values, so the components should not be treated as an exact reconciliation to the headline figure.
| Forbes category | Estimated value |
|---|---|
| Cryptocurrency and liquid assets | About $2.4 billion |
| Golf clubs and resorts | About $1.8 billion |
| Real-estate investments | About $1.1 billion |
| Trump Media & Technology Group | About $1 billion |
| Other assets | About $700 million |
| Additional liabilities | About $140 million |
These rounded figures are Forbes’ estimates as of its September 2026 article, not independently appraised values. Its breakdown distinguishes estimated asset values from liabilities and reflects assumptions about Trump’s interests rather than simply adding up the full value of every associated property or company.
Crypto and liquid assets
Forbes identifies liquid assets as its largest subcategory, with a stated net value of $1.9 billion. Its reported crypto-related components include an estimated $183 million for a memecoin, $78 million for World Liberty Financial tokens, and $233 million for the stablecoin business. These valuations are especially exposed to changing market prices, token economics, and assumptions about liquidity; they should not be read as guaranteed sale proceeds.

Golf properties and real estate
The golf-property estimate covers U.S. clubs, Mar-a-Lago, Doral, and European courses. Forbes’ real-estate category includes fractional interests and debt, so a property’s whole-asset valuation is not necessarily the value attributable to Trump. For a net-worth estimate, ownership share and liabilities matter as much as a property’s headline price.
Media, licensing, and liabilities
Forbes values Trump Media & Technology Group at about $1 billion and other assets at about $700 million, led by a $655 million licensing and management business. It separately reports $94 million in legal liabilities and an estimated $50 million pledged-asset line among additional liabilities. Each component reflects Forbes’ valuation assumptions and reporting date; a different treatment of company shares, private business interests, or debt could change the result.

Why net-worth estimates can differ
There is no single public-market price for a privately held business, a fractional property interest, or an asset that may be difficult to sell quickly. Estimates can also vary with the date of the calculation, the ownership attributed to the person, and whether debt or other liabilities are deducted.
Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index says it updates estimates each business day after the New York market close. It uses the latest closing price for public holdings; for private companies, it may use comparable-company ratios or transactions. Bloomberg describes applying a standard 5% liquidity discount to most closely held companies, with exceptions explained, and says it invites the billionaire or a representative to respond. It also acknowledges that calculating net worth requires estimates and assumptions. Bloomberg’s methodology describes that approach, but a directly verifiable current Trump-specific Bloomberg figure is not available here, so an older snapshot should not be presented as today’s comparison.

To compare two estimates responsibly, line up their dates and check what each counts: public and private holdings, ownership percentages, debt and legal liabilities, crypto and token holdings, liquidity discounts, and family-controlled assets. A headline number without those details can make different measures look interchangeable when they are not.
A financial disclosure is not the same as net worth
ProPublica’s presentation of Trump’s 2025 financial disclosure shows reported asset values of $1.4 billion–$2.1 billion+. That range is disclosure data, not a separate current net-worth estimate. Financial disclosure forms report categories of holdings, income, transactions, outside roles, and liabilities under reporting rules; they are not an independent appraisal that automatically produces one current net-worth figure. ProPublica’s disclosure presentation therefore should not be compared directly with Forbes’ estimated net worth as if both figures measured the same thing.

What “definitive” can—and cannot—mean
The most useful answer to “How much is Donald Trump worth?” is a dated, attributed estimate: Forbes put it at $7 billion in September 2026. Public estimates cannot establish a uniquely definitive value because major components involve fluctuating market prices and judgments about private assets, ownership, debt, and liquidity. Treat the figure as Forbes’ estimate for that date, not a fixed or audited total.
