Its Mandurah arrival followed a delay caused by a late fit-out and approval requirements.
When did The Cray open at Dolphin Quay?
PerthNow reported a successful opening night on the Sunday before its 7 May 2025 story. The report does not give that Sunday’s calendar date, so a more precise opening date cannot be established from it.

The Mandurah restaurant had been announced in July 2024. The opening was pushed back while the fit-out was completed and approvals were sought from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Mandurah, according to PerthNow’s 7 May 2025 report.
What was reported about the restaurant at opening?
PerthNow recorded 140 seats and 26 staff at the time of the opening. It also said the restaurant was open seven days a week at the time of its report; that is not a confirmation of its current schedule.

The same story described the Mandurah venue as the chain’s eighth Western Australian location, following seven existing WA locations before it opened. That is a snapshot from the 2025 report, not a current branch count.
Why did the opening matter to the restaurant?
Director Tejas Patel presented the arrival as a connection with Mandurah customers who had previously travelled to the Belmont restaurant. In the opening report, he said: “For years, our loyal customers have flocked to our Belmont location, savouring in our signature seafood platters and the warmth of our hospitality.”

Patel also recalled a Mandurah couple who, he said, had returned to Belmont year after year for anniversaries and birthdays. He said their loyalty and enjoyment of the seafood platters helped inspire the team’s aim of creating memorable dining experiences. These are the director’s remarks as reported by PerthNow, rather than an independently verified account of customer visits.
