The event was advertised to run until 2pm, but the dish sold out at about 11:40am.
What happened at The Cheese Shop’s Raclette Melt?
Customers queued for hours at The Cheese Shop in Kalamunda on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The planned serving window was 10am to 2pm, but the shop ran out of the melt around 11:40am. PerthNow reported that the shop’s thank-you post described the turnout as “absolutely outstanding.”
The dish was raclette cheese served over bread with prosciutto and pickles. PerthNow reported that some customers were disappointed after missing out. One commenter said waiting more than two hours was annoying and suggested limiting purchases per person. The shop acknowledged the feedback, saying there was “certainly room for improvement.” PerthNow’s April 2025 report attributed the attendance figure to the shop; it was not an independently audited count.
What is a raclette melt?
Raclette is a cheese traditionally melted and scraped onto food. For its May 2025 return event, The Cheese Shop described scraping molten raclette straight from the wheel onto fresh baguette, then adding cornichons and Spanish jamon. That announcement was reported by PerthNow; the specific toppings differed in wording from the April event coverage.

What changed for the May 2025 event?
After the April sellout and customer feedback, the shop scheduled another melt for May 24, 2025. It said it had brought in extra staff and a second grilling station to try to serve customers faster. The follow-up report does not establish whether those changes reduced queue times or prevented another early sellout. PerthNow’s May 2025 follow-up quoted the shop’s announcement: “From 10am to 2pm (or until sold out), we’ll be scraping molten Raclette cheese straight from the wheel onto fresh baguette, then topping it with cornichon pickles and Spanish Jamon.”
Where is The Cheese Shop in Kalamunda?
Experience Perth Hills lists The Cheese Shop at 16 Haynes Street, Kalamunda, and describes it as a food experience. Its listing says the shop sources cheese from Australia and countries including France, Italy, Switzerland and the UK. When is the next Raclette Melt?
A third-party listing reproducing the shop’s social posts names August 15, 2026 as the final Raclette Melt of that year. That date has passed. The listing does not establish whether another event has since been announced, so check The Cheese Shop’s own current channels for any future date rather than relying on an old schedule.
