That evidence does not support a trustworthy list of 10 Nike deals ranked by value. Nike’s FY2026 Form 10-K reports endorsement obligations for the company as a whole, not amounts for individual athletes. The figures should not be sorted together as though they were a single leaderboard. The billion-dollar amounts are estimates of lifetime Nike arrangements reported in 2018; the smaller figures are annual endorsement-income estimates across multiple brands for that year. They answer different questions.

NIKE, Inc.’s FY2026 Form 10-K reports approximately $15.5 billion in endorsement-contract obligations as of May 31, 2026, with approximately $1.7 billion payable within 12 months. The company describes these obligations as primarily base compensation and minimum guaranteed royalties involving athlete, public-figure, team, and league endorsers.
This is an aggregate company obligation, not an athlete-by-athlete accounting, and it includes more than athlete endorsements. The filing does not identify individual contract amounts or confirm the reported LeBron and Ronaldo estimates. Nike’s investor-relations page links to its FY2026 annual-report materials.

How to read claims about “Nike’s most expensive endorsements”
- Check whose money is being counted. Annual endorsement income may combine payments from Nike and other sponsors; a Nike-only contract valuation is narrower.
- Check the time frame. A lifetime arrangement, a fixed-term contract and one year of earnings are not interchangeable measures.
- Check whether the amount is disclosed or estimated. Nike’s filing gives aggregate obligations, while the billion-dollar figures are media-reported estimates.
- Do not turn a top-ten list of all-brand earnings into a Nike deal ranking. Sports Illustrated’s 2018 list credited Forbes and ranked annual endorsement income across brands, not Nike contract values.
On the evidence available, LeBron James and Cristiano Ronaldo are the strongest reported candidates for Nike’s highest-value athlete arrangements, but their “at least $1 billion” valuations remain estimates attributed to 2018 reporting. A defensible top-ten ranking by Nike contract value cannot be established from public figures cited here.
