A frequently repeated estimate of $10 million a year for Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco is conditional arithmetic, not verified payment data.
What the $1 billion figure actually measures
The Los Angeles Times reported in 2019 that the show’s syndication had generated more than $1 billion for Warner Bros. A similar account appeared in the paper’s 2018 coverage, and RTÉ described more than $1 billion in syndication revenue generated for Warner Bros. Television in 2017. These reports describe revenue generated for the studio; they do not establish that the series earns $1 billion every year or disclose how much the actors receive.

Studio revenue, an actor’s residuals, and backend participation are different things. The reported studio figure alone cannot be divided among the cast to calculate individual current income.
What is reported about the stars’ ongoing payments?
The $10 million estimate is hypothetical
Slashfilm’s 2024 account attributes to Metro UK a report that Parsons, Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco each had a one-percent share. It then calculates that one percent of $1 billion would be $10 million, assuming the show generated $1 billion in a year. The calculation depends on that annual-revenue assumption, which the cited reporting does not establish. It is not confirmation that these actors receive $10 million annually, or that they receive checks of that amount now.

A separate $1 million claim is not verified payment data
A 2023 We Got This Covered article repeats a claim that the three actors earn $1 million each per year, attributing its $1 billion annual-revenue premise to 69 News. The original report and payment records were not verified in the reporting reviewed, so the $1 million figure should not be treated as confirmed current income.
The available reporting does not establish actor-specific current residuals or backend payments. It also does not give comparable verified current payment terms for Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, or Melissa Rauch.
Historical salaries are not rerun income
During the show’s run, the original five main cast members—Parsons, Galecki, Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar—were reported to earn exceptionally high per-episode salaries. The Los Angeles Times reported in 2018 that they made just under $1 million per episode at that time. RTÉ reported in 2017 that they were believed to earn $1 million per episode under new contracts. TIME reported in 2014 that Parsons, Galecki, and Cuoco would each make $1 million per episode under new contracts.
Those figures concern compensation for making episodes, not ongoing payments from reruns. They do not tell readers how much the actors receive after the series ended.
Why celebrity earnings lists do not answer the question
TIME’s 2018 report on Forbes estimates put Parsons at $26.5 million and Galecki at $25 million for the preceding year. Those were estimates of each actor’s overall earnings, including work beyond The Big Bang Theory; they were not disclosures of show-specific residuals or rerun payments.
What can be said with confidence
- Reported syndication revenue of more than $1 billion was attributed to Warner Bros.; the reports cited here do not establish that this is revenue earned each year.
- The original five stars were reported to earn around $1 million per episode during the show’s production, with the Los Angeles Times describing the 2018 figure as just under that amount.
- The $10 million-per-person figure for Parsons, Galecki, and Cuoco is a conditional estimate based on a reported one-percent share and an unconfirmed annual revenue assumption.
- The reporting cited here does not disclose verified current individual residual or backend payments.
So the precise answer is not a dollar amount: the public reporting cited here does not establish how much the main stars still make from The Big Bang Theory. The often-repeated $10 million annual estimate should be presented as hypothetical, not as a confirmed paycheck.
